Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis perkembangan identitas tokoh utama novel Stargirl, Susan Caraway 'Stargirl', dalam mencapai aktualisasi dirinya terhadap identitasnya.Landasan teori yang digunakan adalah pengembangan psikososial oleh Erik Erikson dan status identitas oleh James Marcia. Penelitian ini menerapkan metode deskriptif interpretatif untuk menganalisis pembentukan identitas Stargirl berdasarkan plot, dialog, dan narasi yang menunjukkan perkembangan identitas. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa krisis identitas Stargirl terjadi pada tahap kelima perkembangan psikososial Erikson. Dalam penelitian ini menemukan bahwa Stargirl mengalami semua status identitas: Difusi, Penyitaan, Moratorium dan Pencapaian. Realisasi diri Stargirl terjadi saat dia memutuskan untuk tetap berpegang dengan nilai-nilainya sendiri sebagai individu yang bebas di antara pergaulan sosial di sekitarnya, hal ini ditandai sebagai pencapaian identitas. ****** This research aims to analyze the identity development of the main character of the novel Stargirl, Susan Caraway ‘Stargirl’, in achieving her self-actualization of her identity. The theoretical framework used are psychosocial development by Erik Erikson and identity status by James Marcia. This research applied the descriptive interpretive in method to analyze Stargirl’s identity formation based on the plot, dialogue, and narration that indicates identity development. The results of this study shows that Stargirl identity crisis happened in the fifth stage of Erikson’s psychosocial development. In this research finds that Stargirl experiences all of the identity statuses: Diffusion, Foreclosure, Moratorium and Achievement. Stargirl self-realization develops as she decides to stay with her own values as a free-spirted girl amongst the mundane society around her which marks as an identity achievement.
