Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh fear of failure terhadap intensi berwirausaha pada mahasiswa Fakultas Pendidikan Psikologi Universitas Negeri Jakarta. Pendekatan yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kuantitatif dan pengujian hipotesis dilakukan dengan menggunakan analisis linear satu prediktor. Variabel fear of failure diukur menggunakan The Peformance Failure Appraisal Inventory (PFAI) dari Conroy (2002) dan variabel intensi berwirausaha diukur menggunakan Entrepreneurial Intention Questionnaire dari Linan (2009) yang sudah dialih bahasakan ke bahasa Indonesia oleh Yudhaningrum dkk (2021). Teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah convenience sampling dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 318 responden. Hasil uji regresi linear satu prediktor menunjukkan bahwa 4 (empat) dimensi dari variabel fear of failure yaitu: Fear of Experiencing Shame & Embarrassment (FSE), Fear of Devaluing One’s Self-Estimate (FDSE), Fear of Having an Uncertain Future (FUF) dan Fear of Important Others Losing Interest (FIOLI) berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap variabel intensi berwirausaha. Terdapat 1 (satu) dimensi lainnya yaitu Fear of Upsetting Important Others (FUIO) tidak berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap intensi berwirausaha. Pengaruh keempat dimensi variabel fear of failure terhadap intensi berwirausaha menunjukkan arah negatif, artinya semakin tinggi pengaruh keempat dimensi fear of failure maka intensi berwirausaha mahasiswa akan semakin rendah.**This study aims to determine the effect of fear of failure on entrepreneurial intention in students of the Faculty of Psychology Education, State University of Jakarta. The approach used in this study is a quantitative approach and hypothesis testing is done using linear analysis of one predictor. The fear of failure variable was measured using The Performance Failure Appraisal Inventory (PFAI) from Conroy (2002) and the entrepreneurial intention variable was measured using the Entrepreneurial Intention Questionnaire from Linan (2009) which has been translated into Indonesian by Yudhaningrum et al (2021). The sampling technique used in this study was convenience sampling with a total sample size of 318 respondents. The results of the one predictor linear regression test show that 4 (four) dimensions of the fear of failure variable, namely: Fear of Experiencing Shame & Embarrassment (FSE), Fear of Devaluing One's Self-Estimate (FDSE), Fear of Having an Uncertain Future (FUF) and Fear of Important Others Losing Interest (FIOLI) significantly affect the entrepreneurial intention variable. While 1 (one) other dimension, namely Fear of Upsetting Important Others (FUIO) does not significantly affect entrepreneurial intention. The influence of the four dimensions of the fear of failure variable on entrepreneurial intention shows a negative direction, meaning that the higher the influence of the four dimensions of fear of failure, the lower the entrepreneurial intention of students.
