Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran fenomena ketidakpuasan terhadap tubuh remaja laki-laki dan perempuan yang tinggal di pulau Jawa. Responden yang dilibatkan dalam penelitian merupakan remaja berjenis kelamin laki-laki dan perempuan yang berusia 16-18 tahun serta tinggal di pulau Jawa dengan jumlah sebanyak 423 responden. Data dikumpulkan dengan metode non probability sampling tipe purposive sampling menggunakan instrumen Body Shape Questionnaire (BSQ) milik Cooper, dkk. (1987) yang telah diadaptasi oleh Fauziah (2020) ke dalam Bahasa Indonesia dan diadaptasi kembali agar menjadi instrumen yang bebas gender. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rasa ketidakpuasan terhadap tubuh remaja yang tinggal di pulau Jawa terbilang tinggi. Meskipun begitu, jumlah remaja yang tidak menunjukkan rasa ketidakpuasan juga tinggi. Diperlukan penelitian lebih lanjut untuk mendapatkan pemahaman yang lebih mendalam mengenai fenomena rasa ketidakpuasan terhadap tubuh remaja di Indonesia. ***** This study aims to describe the phenomenon of body dissatisfaction among male and female adolescents living on the island of Java. Respondents involved in the study were male and female adolescents aged 16-18 years and living on the island of Java with a total of 423 respondents. Data was collected using a non-probability sampling, purposive sampling method using Cooper et al.'s Body Shape Questionnaire (BSQ) instrument which Fauziah (2020) has adapted into Bahasa and re-adapted to become a gender-free instrument. The results showed that the body dissatisfaction among adolescents who lived on the island of Java was relatively high. Even so, the number of youths who did not show any dissatisfaction was also high. Further research is needed to gain a deeper understanding of the phenomenon of body dissatisfaction among adolescent in Indonesia.
