Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji mengenai Perilaku Panic Buying pada kasus Kelangkaan Minyak Goreng di Desa Kronjo. Penelitian ini penting untuk dikaji karena Panic Buying tidak hanya dilihat sebagai sebuah respon terhadap kekurangan sumber daya yang nyata atau dirasakan akibat covid-19 saja, namun sebagai pendekatan yang akan membawa masyarakat menuju kepada keteraturan sosial untuk membangun kepercayaan diantara struktur, sistem, dan media agar dapat bekerja sama menciptakan karakter humanity yang berkualitas serta membatasi demoralitas terhadap suatu komoditi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan Perilaku Panic Buying pada kasus Kelangkaan Minyak Goreng di Desa Kronjo. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus. Teknik pengumpulan data diambil melalui wawancara terhadap enam informan, observasi lapangan, dan studi dokumen. Fenomena ini akan dianalisis menggunakan Teori Perilaku Kolektif Neil J Smelser. Penelitian ini dilakukan mulai Juli 2021 hingga Desember 2022. Hasil penelitian menyatakan bahwa Panic Buying disebabkan adanya kelangkaan terhadap suatu komoditi kebutuhan dasar masyarakat, kejadian tersebut dipengaruhi oleh media massa, krisis kepercayaan terhadap pemerintah dan orang lain, psikososial kontemporer, serta faktor kultural masyarakat. Panic Buying terjadi karena individu atau kelompok yang melakukan tindakan didasarkan atas desakan kebutuhan rumah tangga yang semakin sempit, tujuannya untuk mendapatkan barang kebutuhan sehari-hari (minyak goreng) yang dianggap penting. This study examines Panic Buying Behavior in the case of Scarcity of Cooking Oil in Kronjo Village. This research is important to study because Panic Buying is not only seen as a response to a real or perceived lack of resources due to COVID-19, but as an approach that will bring society towards social order to build trust between structures, systems and the media so that can work together to create quality human character and limit demorality towards a commodity. This study aims to explain Panic Buying behavior in cases of scarcity of cooking oil in Kronjo Village. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data collection techniques were taken through interviews with six informants, field observations, and document studies. This phenomenon will be analyzed using the Collective Behavior Theory of Neil J Smelser. This research was conducted from July 2021 to December 2022. The results of the study state that Panic Buying is caused by a scarcity of a commodity that is the basic need of society, this event is influenced by the mass media, a crisis of trust in the government and other people, contemporary sychosocial, and societal cultural factors. Panic buying occurs because individuals or groups take action based on the urgency of narrowing household needs, the aim of which is to obtain daily necessities (cooking oil) which are considered important.
