Abstract

Masyarakat pesantren merupakan komunitas bahasa yang menarik untuk diteliti. Kesantunan dalam berbahasa santri memiliki kekhasan dan keunikan tersendiri di setiap pondok pesantren, terutama pada pondok pesantren tradisional. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk memahami dan menggali lebih dalam kesantunan berbahasa dalam tindak tutur santri. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode etnografi komunikasi yang menyajikan data-data yang diperoleh secara langsung melalui observasi di lapangan. Kesantunan berbahasa dalam tindak tutur santri pondok pesantren Al Karimiyyah Sumenep dipengaruhi oleh konteks sosial yang dipadukan dengan budaya pesantren dan budaya Madura. Data pada penelitian ini diperoleh melalui rekaman. Keunikan dan kebaharuan dari penelitian ini adalah terletak pada metode yang digunakan yaitu etnografi komunikasi yang dipadukan dengan budaya Madura dan pesantren. Dari hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa. Pertama, ada 6 (enam) macam bentuk kesantunan dalam tindak tutur santri yaitu dalam bentuk permintaan, pertanyaan, perintah, pujian, ajakan dan dalam bentuk larangan. Kedua, ada 6 (enam) maksim dalam kesantunan berbahasa santri yang meliputi maksim kearifan, maksim kedermawanan, maksim pujian, maksim kerendahan hati, maksim kesepakatan dan maksim simpati. Ketiga, ada tiga (3) Tingkat kebahasaan pada kesantunan dalam tindak tutur santri ditinjau dalam budaya masyarakat Madura yaitu bhasa mandhap, bhasa tengnga’an dan bhasa alos. Keempat, ada tiga nilai budaya tengka pada kesantunan berbahasa dalam tindak tutur santri yaitu dalam bentuk ketaatan, dalam bentuk ucapan dan tindakan. Islamic boarding school societies as language communities has captivated many reserchers’ inferest for a study. Santris’ politeness in the way they communicate posesses certain distinct and unique qualities in each school, especially the ones with tradisional settings. Therefore, the aim of this study is to describe the language etiquette demonstrated by the santris throughout their interactions. This study employed the ethography of communication method to present the data obtained through direct observation in the school. The language politeness displayed through the santris’ manner in Al Karimiyyah Islamic Boarding School in Sumenep is evidently influenced by social contexts blended with the school’s and Madurese as well as Islamic Boarding School culture, and the ethnography of communication method brought exclusive abd original qualities to this study. This study showed that: First, there are 6 (six) types of etiquettes found in santris’ manner in the form of requestsm questions, orders, compliments, invitationsm and bans; second, there are 6 (six) maxims in the santris’ language politeness namely maxims of wisdom, maxim of generosity, macim of compliment, maxim of modesty, maxim of agreement, and macim of sympaty; Third, there are 3 (three) levels of language politeness in the manner displayed by the santris based on Madurese culture which are bhasa mandhap, bhasa tengnga'an and bhasa alos; Fourth, there are three tengka culture values implemented in the language politeness portrayed in the santris’ manners as obedience, speech, and act.
