Abstract

ABSTRAK Hilmi Muzhaffar Zuhdi, Peranan Jamiat Kheir dalam Pendidikan Islam di Batavia (1905-1915). Skripsi Jakarta: Program Studi Pendidikan Sejarah, Fakultas Ilmu Sosial, Universitas Negeri Jakarta. 2023. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apa yang menjadi motivasi masyarakat Arab di Batavia mendirikan sekolah Islam untuk masyarakat Arab yang pada saat itu sekolah Islam belum ada dan lebih banyak sekolah yang dibuat oleh Belanda. Metode yang digunakan untuk kajian penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian sejarah atau historis, yang terdiri dari heuristik, verifikasi, interpretasi, dan historiografi. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa Jamiat Kheir merupakan pelopor pendidikan Islam modern pertama di Batavia. Jamiat Kheir didirikan oleh orang Hadramaut yang bermigrasi dari Yaman Selatan ke Nusantara. Pendirian Jamiat Kheir mendapatkan dukungan dari masyarakat pribumi terutama yang beragama Islam. Usaha pendirian Jamiat Kheir perlu diapresiasi karena ditengah perkembangan Jamiat Kheir terdapat masalah internal dan sekolah tersebut tetap eksis hingga sekarang dan hanya memiliki satu cabang sejak didirikan. Kata Kunci: Hadramaut, Jamiat Kheir, Pendidikan Islam. ABSTRACT Hilmi Muzhaffar Zuhdi, The Role of Jamiat Kheir in Islamic Education in Batavia (1905-1915). Jakarta Thesis: History Education Study Program, Faculty of Social Sciences, Jakarta State University. 2023. This research aims to find out what motivated the Arab community in Batavia to establish an Islamic school for the Arab community, when at that time there were no Islamic schools and more schools were built by the Dutch. The method used for this research study is the historical or historical research method, which consists of heuristics, verification, interpretation, and historiography. The results of this research indicate that Jamiat Kheir was the pioneer of the first modern Islamic education in Batavia. Jamiat Kheir was founded by the Hadramaut people who migrated from South Yemen to the Archipelago. The establishment of Jamiat Kheir received support from the indigenous community, especially those who were Muslim. The effort to establish Jamiat Kheir needs to be appreciated because in the midst of Jamiat Kheir's development there were internal problems and the school still exists today and has only had one branch since it was founded.
