Abstract

Pondok Pesantren Buntet merupakan salah satu daerah di Jawa Barat yang masih menjalankan tradisi pernikahan endogami. Jenis pernikahan ini mewajibkan masyarakat didalamnya untuk menikah dengan individu dari latar belakang keluarga yang sama. Hal ini tentunya menimbulkan beberapa kritik sosial terhadap masalah yang ditimbulkan karena pernikahan endogami. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode pengumpulan data melalui wawancara dan observasi. Sifat penelitian ini ialah deskriptif yang berpacu pada hasil temuan dan realita sosial yang terjadi di keluarga Pondok Pesantren Buntet. Selanjutnya teknik pengolahan data yang dilakukan peneliti melalui tiga tahap, yakni reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil dari penelitian ini mengungkapkan alasan terjadinya pernikahan endogami di lingkungan Keluarga Pondok Pesantren Buntet ialah untuk menjaga dan memelihara nasab, alasan landasan agama, adanya kepercayaan pentingnya menikah dengan keluarga yang memiliki status sosial yang sama, dan untuk menjaga keberlangsungan Pondok Pesantren Buntet. Apabila tradisi tersebut tidak dijalankan maka akan ada sanksi sosial, baik dari keluarga inti maupun masyarakat sekitar. ***** Buntet Islamic Boarding School is one area in West Java that still carries out the endogamous marriage tradition. This type of marriage obliges the people in it to marry individuals from the same family background. This of course raises some social criticism of the problems caused by endogamous marriages. This research was conducted using a qualitative approach with data collection methods through interviews and observation. The nature of this research is descriptive which is based on findings and social reality that occurs in the Buntet Islamic Boarding School family. Furthermore, data processing techniques carried out by researchers through three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study reveal that the reasons for endogamous marriages in the Buntet Islamic Boarding School family environment are to protect and maintain lineage, religious reasons, the belief in the importance of marrying into families who have the same social status, and to maintain the continuity of the Buntet Islamic Boarding School. If this tradition is not carried out, there will be social sanctions, both from the nuclear family and the surrounding community.
