Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan bahan ajar berupa modul hypercontent yang berjudul “My Indonesian English” dan buku panduan guru untuk mata pelajaran bahasa Inggris SMP kelas VII. Bahan ajar dan buku panduan guru dikembangkan dengan mengintegrasikan nilai-nilai karakter dan keterampilan abad 21. Pengintegrasian nilai-nilai karakter dan keterampilan abad 21 dilakukan untuk menjawab temuan pada studi pendahuluan bahwa guru bahasa Inggris mengalami kesulitan dalam mengintegrasikan nilai-nilai karakter dan keterampilan abad 21 pada proses pembelajaran bahasa Inggris. Bahan ajar dan buku panduan guru dikembangkan untuk memfasilitasi dan meningkatkan tidak hanya keterampilan berbicara bahasa Inggris peserta didik SMP kelas VII, tetapi juga meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan karakter dan pembelajaran yang menerapkan keterampilan abad 21. Desain pengembangan yang digunakan adalah model pengembangan Derek Rowntree. Model pengembangan Derek Rowntree digunakan untuk mengembangkan materi dalam modul hypercontent. Kelayakan modul dan buku panduan guru diperoleh berdasarkan hasil validasi ahli yang terdiri dari lima ahli yaitu 1) ahli instrumen, 2) ahli desain instruksional, 3) ahli materi, 4) ahli bahasa, dan 5) ahli media. Hasil validasi ahli memperoleh skor rata-rata 4,36 yang berarti modul “My Indonesian English” dan buku panduan guru dinilai baik. Selanjutnya dilakukan uji coba lapangan kepada peserta didik SMP kelas VII. Hasil uji coba lapangan diperoleh skor rata-rata 4,3 yang berarti modul “My Indonesian English” dinilai sangat layak untuk digunakan. Hasil uji –t menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan sehingga modul “My Indonesian English” dikatakan efektif dan mampu meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara bahasa Inggris peserta didik SMP kelas VII. Kata kunci: Bahan ajar bahasa Inggris SMP, nilai karakter.***************This study aims to produce teaching materials in the form of a hyper-content module entitled "My Indonesian English" and a teacher's manual for English subjects of grade VII junior high school. Teaching materials and teacher manuals were developed by integrating character values and 21st century skills. The integration of character values and 21st century skills was carried out to answer the findings in the preliminary study that English teachers had difficulties in integrating character values and 21st century skills in the process of learning English. Teaching materials and teacher's manuals were developed to facilitate and improve not only the English speaking skills of grade VII junior high school students, but also to improve the quality of character education and learning that applies 21st century skills. The development design used is the Derek Rowntree development model. Derek Rowntree's development model is used to develop the material in the hyper-content module. The feasibility of the modules and the teacher's manual was obtained based on the results of expert validation consisting of five experts, namely 1) instrument expert, 2) instructional design expert, 3) materials expert, 4) language expert, and 5) media expert. The results of the expert validation obtained a score 4,36 which means that the “My Indonesian English” module and the teacher's manual were considered good. Furthermore, field trials were carried out on class VII junior high school students. The test results obtained an average score 4,3 which means the “My Indonesian English” module is considered feasible to use. The results of the –t test showed that there was a significant difference so that the "My Indonesian English" module was said to be effective and able to improve the English speaking skills of grade VII junior high school students Keywords: Junior High School English teaching materials, character values.
