Abstract

Masa remaja merupakan peralihan masa pertumbuhan dan perkembangan individu dari dari masa kanak-kanak ke masa dewasa yang dapat ditandai dengan perubahan biologis, perubahan psikologis, maupun perubahan sosial. Jika remaja memiliki kepercayaan diri yang rendah maka hal tersebut dapat menghambat perkembangan remaja dalam bersosialisasi dengan lingkungannya, sulit mengembangkan potensi yang dimiliki, kesulitan mengenal dirinya dan tugas perkembangan lainnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh kekerasan verbal orang tua terhadap kepercayaan diri remaja di salah satu SMP Negeri di Jakarta. Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan Januari sampai dengan bulan Agustus 2023. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian kuantitatif dengan pendekatan asosiatif. Sampel dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 241 siswa yang memiliki kedua orang tua. Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu menggunakan kuesioner. Analisis data menggunakan uji regresi linear sederhana. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kekerasan verbal berpengaruh negatif terhadap kepercayaan diri remaja, yang mengartikan bahwa semakin tinggi kekerasan verbal orang tua maka kepercayaan diri yang dimiliki remaja semakin rendah. Untuk meningkatkan kepercayaan diri remaja, maka dalam pengasuhan remaja orang tua diharapkan untuk tidak melakukan kekerasan verbal kepada anak sebagai bentuk hukuman ataupun sebagai sarana mendisiplinkan anak. Ucapkan perkataan yang baik dan tidak menyakiti hati anak, lemah lembut, pengertian dan berikan dukungan serta pujian kepada anak. ***** Adolescence is a transitional period of individual growth and development from childhood to adulthood which can be characterized by biological changes, psychological changes, and social changes. If adolescents have low self-confidence, this can hinder the development of adolescents in socializing with their environment, it is difficult to develop their potential, they have difficulty getting to know themselves and other developmental tasks. This study aims to determine the effect of parental verbal violence on adolescent self-confidence in a public junior high school in Jakarta. The research was conducted from January to August 2023. The research method used is a quantitative research method with an associative approach. The sample in this study amounted to 241 students who have both parents. Data collection method used is using a questionnaire. Data analysis used a simple linear regression test. The results of the study show that verbal abuse has a negative effect on adolescent self-confidence, which means that the higher parents' verbal abuse, the lower adolescent self-confidence. To increase the self-confidence of adolescents, in parenting adolescents, parents are expected not to commit verbal violence to children as a form of punishment or as a means of disciplining children. Say good words and don't hurt the child's heart, be gentle, understanding and give support and praise to the child.
