Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat pengaruh penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe ¬Think-Pair-Share (TPS) terhadap kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa SMP Cawang Baru Jakarta. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini yaitu eksperimen semu (quasi experiment) dengan post-test only control group design. Teknik pengambilan sampel yaitu cluster random sampling. Kelas yang dijadikan sampel adalah kelas VII-B sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas VII-C sebagai kelas kontrol. Dalam penelitian ini digunakan instrumen tes kemampuan komunikasi matematis dengan pokok bahasan statistika, yang berupa soal uraian sebanyak 4 soal. Instrumen tersebut telah melalui uji validitas isi serta konstruk yang dilakukan oleh dosen ahli dan guru. Selanjutnya dilakukan uji validitas empiris, untuk melihat validitas setiap butir soalnya. Kemudian, instrumen yang bersifat valid dites reliabilitasnya, yang mana koefisien korelasi yang didapat sebesar 0,619. Berdasarkan perhitungan data hasil penelitian, kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol berasal dari populasi yang berdistribusi normal dan bersifat homogen. Oleh karena itu, hipotesis statistik diuji dengan menggunakan uji-t dengan taraf signifikansi a = 0,05. Setelah diuji, maka didapat hasil nilai t_hitung=3,324 dan nilai t tabel = 1,671 sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa t hitung > t tabel. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa yang diajar menggunakan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TPS lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan siswa yang diajar menggunakan model pembelajaran konvensional. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TPS memberikan pengaruh terhadap kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa SMP. Adapun uji cohen’s d diperoleh nilai d = 0,858 yang termasuk dalam kategori tinggi dengan presentase 79%. ***** This study aimed at examining the effect of implementing the cooperative learning model type Think-Pair-Share (TPS) on mathematical communication abilities at SMP Cawang Baru Jakarta. The method used in this research is quasi-experimental with post-test only control group design. Sampling using cluster random sampling. The sample classes were VII-B as the experimental class and VII-C as the control class. This research using a mathematical communication ability test instrument with statistics subject as many as 4 questions. Before being used, the instrument has been tested for content validity and construct validity by expert lecturers and teachers. Furthermore, each item was tested for empirical validity. After being valid in empirical vadility, instrument was tested for reliability with the results of the correlation coefficient was 0,619. Based on the calculation of the research data, the experimental class and the control class came from a population that was normally distributed and was homogeneous. Therefore, the statistical hypothesis was tested using the t-test with a significance level of a = 0,05. After being tested, the results obtained were t count = 3,324 and t table = 1,671. Then it could be concluded that t count > t table. The result indicate that the average mathematical communication skills of students taught using the cooperative learning TPS type was higher than students taught using conventional learning. Based on this, it was found that the cooperative learning TPS type had an influence on the mathematical communication abilities of Junior High School students. The large effect test carried out obtained the result of d = 0,858 which was included in the medium category with a percentage of 79%.
