Abstract

***** This study aims to determine the relationship between the intensity of using TikTok social media on adolescent consumptive behavior. The research was conducted with a quantitative method of correlational type. The research population is TikTok teenagers aged 17-22 years. Sampling was carried out using simple random sampling and non-probality sampling techniques with the G*Power formula and obtained 84 respondents. Data collection using a questionnaire which was then analyzed by the Pearson Product Moment correlation test after going through the prerequisite test, namely the Kolmogorov Smirnov normality test which showed that the data was normally distributed. The results of hypothesis testing obtained a correlation coefficient of 0.572 with a significance of 0.000 (p <0.05) which means that there is a significant positive relationship between the intensity of TikTok use and adolescent consumptive behavior. The higher the intensity of TikTok use, the higher the consumptive behavior of adolescents. In conclusion, there is a significant relationship between the intensity of TikTok use and adolescent consumptive behavior. Teenagers are advised to increase awareness of the importance of self-control in order to avoid excessive consumptive behavior due to excessive use of TikTok. This research is expected to add insight into the impact of excessive use of TikTok social media on adolescent consumptive behavior..
