Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji tentang penerapan pendekatan kontekstual dalam keterampilan menulis deskripsi siswa kelas IV SDN Bojonggede 06. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian kualitatif deskriptif yang menggunakan metode Miles and Huberman untuk memperoleh data sesuai topik permasalahan dalam penelitian. Sumber data yang diambil berupa catatan lapangan, dokumentasi foto, daan wawancara. Hasil dari penelitian menyatakan bahwa pendekatan pembelajaran membuat perubahan terhadap keterampilan menulis deskripsi siswa. Hal itu dapat dilihat dari proses pembelajaran yang berhasil membuat siswa lebih bebas mengungkapkan gagasan saat mengamati sebuah gambar dan mengamati objek secara langsung. Melalui pendekatan pembelajaran kontekstual, siswa juga secara mandiri mengoreksi hasil tulisan mereka, hal itu memperkuat pengetahuan siswa seputar penggunaan tanda baca, huruf kapital serta ejaan ketika menulis. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang sudah dilakukan, dapat diketahui bahwa penerapan pendekatan kontekstual penting untuk diterapkan serta dapat menjadi pendekatan alternatif bagi guru dalam pembelajaran menulis deskripsi. ***** This study aims to examine the application of a contextual approach in the description writing skills of fourth grade students at SDN Bojonggede 06. This research uses descriptive qualitative research using the Miles and Huberman method to obtain data according to the topic of the research problem. Sources of data taken in the form of field notes, photo documentation, and interviews. The results of the study stated that the learning approach made changes to students' description writing skills. This can be seen from the successful learning process which makes students more free to express ideas when observing an image and observing an object directly. Through a contextual learning approach, students also independently correct their writing, this strengthens students' knowledge about the use of punctuation, capital letters and spelling when writing. Based on the results of the research that has been done, it can be seen that the application of a contextual approach is important to apply and can be an alternative approach for teachers in learning to write descriptions.
