Abstract

Penelitian ini menganalisis bahasa kiasan dan makna tersirat dalam lirik lagu terpilih pada album "SOS" dari SZA. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi jenis-jenis bahasa kiasan berdasarkan teori bahasa kiasan Knickerbocker & Reninger dan teori bahasa kiasan Perrine, serta untuk menyampaikan makna tersirat di balik album "SOS" yang terungkap melalui teori makna implisit Larson. Penulis menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dalam penelitian ini. Data penelitian diambil dari 9 lirik lagu terpilih dalam bentuk kata-kata dan frasa pada album “SOS” dari SZA yang mengandung bahasa kiasan. Temuan penelitian ini mengungkapkan bahwa terdapat delapan jenis bahasa kiasan; metafora, simbolisme, personifikasi, simile, hiperbola, paradoks, allusion, dan metonimia. Dengan menggunakan berbagai perangkat bahasa kiasan ini, lirik-lirik pada album “SOS” memberikan gambaran yang mengharukan tentang konsekuensi negatif dari hubungan yang tidak sehat. Lirik-lirik tersebut juga menyampaikan pengalaman transformasi dalam melarikan diri dari hubungan yang merusak. ***** This study analyzes figurative language and implied meaning in the selected song lyrics in “SOS” album by SZA. The aims of the study are to identify the kinds of figurative language based on Knickerbocker & Reninger’s figurative language theory and Perrine’s figurative language theory and to convey the implied meaning behind “SOS” album revealed through Larson’s implicit meaning theory. The writer uses a descriptive qualitative as method in this study. The data of the study were taken from 9 selected song lyrics in the form of words and phrases from “SOS” album by SZA that contained figurative language. The findings revealed that there are eight kinds of figurative language; metaphor, symbolism, personification, simile, hyperbole, paradox, allusion, and metonymy. By employing these figurative language devices, the lyrics in “SOS” album provide a poignant portrayal of the negative consequences of an unhealthy relationship. The lyrics in “SOS” album also convey the transformative experience of escaping a destructive relationship.
