Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis perkembangan karakter Ana Dakkar dalam novel Daughter of the Deep karya Rick Riordan dengan menggunakan teori Hero's Journey dari Vogler (2007), yang terdiri dari dua belas tahap dan delapan arketipe dalam cerita. Penelitian ini menerapkan penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa kedua belas tahap perjalanan pahlawan serta enam dari tujuh arketipe utama selain arketipe Hero muncul dalam novel, kecuali arketipe Trickster. Refusal of the Call; Tests, Allies, Enemies; Ordeal; Reward; Resurrection; and Return with the Elixir adalah tahap-tahap terpenting dalam transformasi Ana. Beberapa karakter memiliki peran arketipe dalam membantu perkembangannya, Dev sebagai Shadow-nya, berbagai karakter sebagai Allies, Hewett sebagai Mentor, serangan terhadap Harding-Pencroft Academy sebagai Herald, Nautilus sebagai Shapeshifter, dan siswa Land Institute sebagai Threshold Guardian. Kedua elemen ini memengaruhi Ana, mengubahnya dari seorang pahlawan yang tidak mau dengan ketakutan dan keraguan menjadi pahlawan yang mau dengan komitmen dan motivasi. ***** This study aims to analyse Ana Dakkar's character development in Rick Riordan's Daughter of the Deep through Vogler's (2007) Hero's Journey, consists of twelve stages and eight archetypes in the story. This study employs descriptive qualitative research. The study found that all twelve stages of the hero's journey as well as six out of seven key archetypes besides Hero archetype appear in the novel, except Trickster archetype. Refusal of the Call; Tests, Allies, Enemies; Ordeal; Reward; Resurrection; and Return with the Elixir are the most important stages in Ana's transformation. Few characters have archetype roles in helping her development, Dev as her Shadow, various characters as her Allies, Hewett as her Mentor, attack on Harding-Pencroft Academy as Herald, Nautilus as Shapeshifter, and Land Institute students as Threshold Guardian. Both of these elements influenced Ana, transforming her from an unwilling hero with fears and doubts into a willing hero with commitment and motivation.
