Skripsi: Jakarta, Program Studi Sastra Inggris, Fakultas Bahasa dan Seni, Universitas Negeri Jakarta. “Representasi Tokoh Mitologi Slavia dalam The Last Wish dan Sword of Destiny oleh Andrzej Sapkowski” adalah sebuah penjelajahan dari dunia fantasi menakjubkan yang diciptakan oleh Andrzej Sapkowski yang menaruh fokus pada representasi tokoh mitologi Slavia di dalam narasinya. Melalui analisis mendalam dari novel the Witcher, khususnya pada dua buku pertama yang berlaku sebagai fondasi naratif untuk buku lainnya di seri ini yaitu “The Last Wish” dan “Sword of Destiny,” penelitian ini menggali bagaimana Sapkowski menginkorporasikan dan menggambarkan tokoh mitologi Slavia kedalam narasinya. Dengan mengkaji peran, karakteristik, dan interaksi mereka dengan karakter-karakter manusia, penelitian ini menemukan signifikansi dan pengaruh dari representasi ini. Penelitian ini juga menggarisbawahi kemahiran penulis dalam menggabungkan beberapa elemen dari berbagai mitologi, menciptakan sebuah tenunan mitologi yang terasa kaya dan original yang berkontribusi dalam pembuatan dunia dari jagat the Witcher. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga menunjukkan bahwa inkorporasi mitologi Slavia dalam novel Witcher menciptakan kisah naratif yang imersif, dan secara keseluruhan membantu worldbuilding. Selain itu, analisis struktur naratif dari Todorov dan Propp mengungkapkan kompleksitas dalam penyampaian cerita dalam seri Witcher, menampilkan perkembangan plot yang kompleks, perjalanan karakter, dan kedalaman tema. Terakhir, eksplorasi isu-isu sosial dalam seri Witcher mengungkapkan komentar mengenai diskriminasi, dinamika kekuasaan, dan konsekuensi perang, yang menjelaskan relevansinya dalam masyarakat kontemporer. Pada akhirnya, penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi untuk pemahaman yang lebih besar tentang signifikansi budaya dan kekuatan naratif mitologi Slavia sebagai dasar untuk penyampaian cerita dalam seri novel Witcher. Through an in-depth analysis of the Witcher novels, particularly the first two books that serves as the narrative foundations for the rest of the series namely “The Last Wish” and “Sword of Destiny,” this study explores how Sapkowski incorporates and portrays Slavic mythical figures into his narrative. By examining their roles, characteristics, and their interactions with the human characters, the research discovered the significance and impact of these representations. The study also highlights the author's adeptness in blending elements from various mythologies, creating a sense of a rich and original tapestry that supports the worldbuilding of the Witcher universe. Furthermore, findings suggest that the incorporation of Slavic mythology in the Witcher novels creates a rich and immersive narrative tapestry that enhances worldbuilding. Moreover, the analysis of the narrative structure from Todorov and Propp reveals the intricacies of storytelling in the Witcher series, showcasing the plot developments, character arcs, and thematic depth. Lastly, the exploration of societal issues in the Witcher cycle uncovers the thought-provoking commentary on discrimination, power dynamics, and the consequences of war, shedding light on their significance and relevance in contemporary society. Ultimately, this research contributes to a greater understanding of the cultural significance and narrative power of Slavic mythology as a foundation for storytelling in the Witcher novel series.
