Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan keterlibatan orang tua Sekolah Menengah Pertama (SMP) di Kecamatan Tanah Sareal berdasarkan jenjang pendidikan dan status ekonomi. Sampel penelitian ini adalah orang tua pelajar SMP Negeri dan Swasta di Kecamatan Tanah Sareal yang berjumlah 380 orang. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif komparatif dengan teknik Quota Sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan alat ukur dalam bentuk kuisioner yaitu Family Involvement Questionnaire-High School version (FIQ-HS) untuk variabel keterlibatan orang tua. Teknik analisis data menggunakan uji ANOVA. Hasil analisis deskriptif menunjukkan 246 orang tua (65%) memiliki tingkat keterlibatan tinggi, 104 orang tua (27%) memiliki tingkat keterlibatan rendah dan 30 orang tua (8%) memiliki tingkat keterlibatan tinggi. Aspek keterlibatan yang sering dilakukan oleh orang tua adalah aspek Home-based Activities (52%), Home-School Communication (26%), dan School-based Activities (22%). Hasil uji ANOVA mendapatkan hasil signifikansi untuk faktor jenjang pendidikan sebesar 0,236 dan faktor status ekonomi sebesar 0,189. Hasil signifikansi kedua faktor lebih dari taraf signifikansi 0,05 yang berarti tidak terdapat perbedaan keterlibatan berdasarkan jenjang pendidikan dan status ekonomi orang tua pelajar SMP di Kecamatan Tanah Sareal. Implikasi dari penelitian ini yang memerlukan optimalisasi pada keterlibatan orang tua, sekolah perlu mengoptimalkan program layanan konsultasi dan buku penghubung ke orang tua. ***** This research aims to determine differences in parental involvement of junior high schools in Tanah Sareal District based on educational level and economic status. The sample for this research was 380 parents of public and private middle school parents in Tanah Sareal District. The research method used is a comparative descriptive method with the Quota Sampling technique. Data collection was carried out using measuring instruments in the form of a questionnaire, namely the Family Involvement Questionnaire-High School version (FIQ-HS) for the parental involvement variable. The data analysis technique uses the ANOVA test. The results of the descriptive analysis showed that 246 parents (65%) had a high level of involvement, 104 parents (27%) had a low level of involvement and 30 parents (8%) had a high level of involvement. The aspects of involvement that are often carried out by parents are Home-based Activities (52%), Home-School Communication (26%), and School-based Activities (22%). The results of the ANOVA test obtained significant results for the educational level factor of 0.236 and the economic status factor of 0.189. The results of the significance of the two factors are more than the 0.05 significance level, which means there are no differences in involvement based on the level of education and economic status of parents of junior high school students in Tanah Sareal District. The implications of this research require optimization of parent involvement, schools need to optimize consultation service programs and liaison books for parents.
