Abstract

Infographic is multimodal text form of learning media that can be used as an alternative to visualizing ideas. Yet, a study is still need to find whether the content of students’ infographic is not only well-displayed but also well-informing. This study aimed to investigate the elements of the infographic made by students of SMAN 44 contribute to do meaning making process of procedure text and the components of visual literacy by Syarafina (2019). The research data are sentences, figures, symbols, and other components contained in twenty-one infographics made by students of SMAN 44 Jakarta. The infographics that have been analyzed in this research met the meaning making process of procedure text in Senior High School. The analysis proves that almost all infographics implemented the social function, generic structure, and language features of procedure text. Additionally, researcher found infographics made by students of SMAN 44 Jakarta met the visual literacy components. All of the infographics met the components of analyze and organize information and think critically. Almost all infographics are also met the components of imaging and visualizing, constructing meaning, shapes, and figures. However, for integrate new knowledge components needs to be further improved because only 4 infographics met this component. ***** Infografis merupakan salah satu media pembelajaran berbentuk teks multimodal yang dapat digunakan sebagai alternatif untuk memvisualisasikan ide. Namun, penelitian masih perlu dilakukan untuk mengetahui apakah konten infografis yang dibuat oleh siswa tidak hanya ditampilkan dengan baik, tetapi juga memberikan informasi yang baik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui elemen-elemen infografis yang dibuat oleh siswa SMAN 44 yang berkontribusi dalam proses pemaknaan teks prosedur dan komponen-komponen literasi visual yang dikemukakan oleh Syarafina (2019). Data penelitian berupa kalimat, gambar, simbol, dan komponen lain yang terdapat dalam dua puluh satu infografis yang dibuat oleh siswa SMAN 44 Jakarta. Infografis yang telah dianalisis dalam penelitian ini telah memenuhi proses pembuatan makna teks prosedur di Sekolah Menengah Atas. Hasil analisis membuktikan bahwa hampir semua infografis telah menerapkan fungsi sosial, struktur generik, dan fitur bahasa teks prosedur. Selain itu, peneliti juga menemukan bahwa infografis yang dibuat oleh siswa SMAN 44 Jakarta telah memenuhi komponen literasi visual. Semua infografis memenuhi komponen menganalisis dan mengorganisasikan informasi serta berpikir kritis. Hampir semua infografis juga memenuhi komponen mencitrakan dan memvisualisasikan, mengkonstruksi makna, bentuk, dan angka. Namun, untuk komponen mengintegrasikan pengetahuan baru masih perlu ditingkatkan lagi karena hanya 4 infografis yang memenuhi komponen ini.
