Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran kedukaan remaja se- Provinsi Jawa Barat pasca kematian orang tua. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode survey. Subjek dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 349 siswa. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan Convenience sampling atau accidental sampling. Alat pengumpul data berupa angket Inventory Complicated Grief (ICG) yang diadaptasi dari Holy G. Prigerson (1995). Hasil uji validitas menunjukkan semua butir pernyataan yang valid. Sedangkan reliabilitasnya sebesar 0,756 berada pada kategori kuat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan gambaran kedukaan remaja se- Provinsi Jawa Barat memperoleh skor rata-rata 39,7 dari skor minimal kedukaan normal yaitu 25 atau mengalami kedukaan rumit yang ditandai dengan mengalami gejala kecemasan seperti mudah marah, gejala depresi, dan gejala kedukaan seperti tidak percaya dengan kematian yang terjadi, setelah 18 bulan kematian orang tua. Berdasarkan jenis kelamin, diketahui remaja perempuan memperoleh skor rata-rata kedukaan rumit sebesar 43,7. Sedangkan skor rata-rata kedukaan rumit remaja laki-laki sebesar 42,0. Penyebab kematian tertinggi dikarenakan oleh penyakit kronis, dan kedukaan terrumit dialami oleh remaja yang mengalami kematian ibu. Jadi, dapat disimpulkan bahwa remaja di Provinsi Jawa Barat mengalami kedukaan yang rumit.*****This research aims to understand the portrayal of adolescent grief in West Java Province following the death of their parents. It adopts a quantitative approach using a survey method. The study includes 349 students as participants, selected through convenience sampling or accidental sampling. The data collection instrument used is the Inventory Complicated Grief (ICG) questionnaire, adapted from Holy G. Prigerson (1995). The validity test results indicate that all statement items are valid, with a reliability coefficient of 0.756, falling under the strong category. The research findings reveal that adolescents in West Java Province experience an average grief score of 39.7 out of a minimum score normal grief of 25, indicating complicated grief characterized by symptoms of anxiety, such as irritability, depressive symptoms, and grief symptoms, including disbelief in the occurrence of death, following the 18-month period after the loss of their parents. Based on gender, it is found that female adolescents have an average complicated grief score of 43.7, while male adolescents have an average score of 42.0. The highest cause of death is attributed to chronic illnesses, and complicated grief is predominantly experienced by adolescents who have lost their mothers. Therefore, it can be concluded that adolescents in West Java Province are experiencing complicated grief.
