Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan serta mengungkapkan secara mendalam tentang aktan dalam novel The Maze Runner karya James Dashner. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan metode analisis isi. Teori aktan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan perspektif A.J. Greimas untuk menemukan model fungsional dan memperoleh deskripsi struktur cerita. Berdasarkan penelusuran sebelumnya, secara jelas bahwa penelitian tentang aktan dalam novel ini belum ditelusuri sehingga hal ini menjadi bagian dari kebaruan dalam penelitian ini. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh temuan data meliputi unsur intrinsik novel The Maze Runner terdiri dari tema, tokoh dan penokohan, plot, latar, dan sudut pandang. Hasil penelitian diperoleh temuan tokoh utama adalah Thomas yang didukung oleh tokoh Theresa. Adapun model aktan diperoleh aktan pengirim adalah percobaan dan aktan penerima adalah penduduk Glade/glader. Aktan penghalang adalah Griever dan aktan penolongnya Minho, Alby, Theresa dan Chuck. Hasil penelitian ini bermanfaat bagi pembaca dalam memahami tokoh dan model cerita. Pemahaman ini dapat digunakan dalam pembelajaran cerita di pendidikan menengah. This study aims to describe and reveal in depth about the actant in the novel The Maze Runner by James Dashner. This type of research is qualitative research using content analysis methods. Actant theory in this study uses the perspective of A.J. Greimas to find a functional model and obtain a description of the structure of the story. Based on the result of the study, it is clear that the research on actants in this novel has not been explored so that this is part of the novelty of this study. Based on the research results, it was found that the data included the intrinsic elements of The Maze Runner novel consisting of themes, characters and characterizations, plots, settings, and points of view. The results showed that the main character was Thomas, who was supported by the figure Theresa. The actant model is obtained by the sender is experimental and the receiver is a resident of the Glade / glader. The opponent are Griever and the helper are Minho, Alby, Theresa and Chuck. The results of this study are useful for readers in understanding the characters and story models. This understanding can be used in story learning in secondary education
