Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memaparkan bentuk dan implementasi dari program pengembangan pendidikan non formal “Sekolah Kami”, serta peran modal sosial dalam mengembangkan pendidikan non formal tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori modal sosial beserta metode penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Kelompok Belajar “Sekolah Kami”, tepatnya di sekitar pemukiman pemulung, Jalan Bintara Jaya IV, Kelurahan Bintara Jaya, Kecamatan Bekasi Barat, Kota Bekasi pada Juni 2023 - November 2023. Subjek penelitian ini terdiri dari sembilan informan. Pengumpulan data penelitian dilakukan dengan melakukan observasi sebanyak tiga kali di “Sekolah Kami” pada jam operasional, wawancara mendalam, serta dokumentasi. Triangulasi data dilakukan dengan mewawancarai Pimpinan “Sekolah Kami” dan Ketua RT 03 Bintara Jaya. Dari penelitian ini, ditemukan bahwa “Sekolah Kami” berdiri secara independen di lingkungan Pemukiman Pemulung Albaraya didasari oleh kesadaran pendiri akan urgensi pendidikan anak pemulung. “Sekolah Kami” mengembangkan pendidikan non formal bagi anak pemulung dan dengan membentuk empat program inti dan satu program pendukung. Implementasi program tersebut didasari oleh adanya pendekatan dengan masyarakat pemulung, kurikulum khusus, serta peran modal sosial, yakni melibatkan jalinan kerjasama secara internal maupun dengan pihak eksternal, membentuk dan menaati norma yang berlaku, dan menumbuhkan kepercayaan dari pihak eksternal. “Sekolah Kami” memperkuat modal sosial tersebut dengan menumbuhkan jalinan social bonding, social bridging, dan social linking. ************ This research aims to describe the form and implementation of the non-formal education development program "Sekolah Kami", as well as the role of social capital in developing non-formal education. This research uses social capital theory along with qualitative research methods with a case study approach. This research was conducted at the "Sekolah Kami" Learning Group, precisely around the scavenger settlement, Jalan Bintara Jaya IV, Bintara Jaya Village, West Bekasi District, Bekasi City in June 2023 - November 2023. The subjects of this study consisted of nine informants. The research data was collected by conducting observations three times at "Sekolah Kami" during operational hours, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data triangulation was conducted by interviewing the Head of "Sekolah Kami" and the Head of RT 03 Bintara Jaya. From this research, it was found that "Sekolah Kami" was established independently in the Albaraya Scavenger Settlement neighborhood based on the founder's awareness of the urgency of education for scavenger childern. "Sekolah Kami" develops non-formal education for scavenger children by establishing four core programs and one supporting program. The implementation of the program is based on an approach with the waste picker community, a special curriculum, and the role of social capital, which involves cooperation internally and with external parties, forming and adhering to applicable norms, and fostering trust from external parties. "Sekolah Kami" strengthens this social capital by fostering social bonding, social bridging, and social linking.
