Abstract

**** This study aims to examine the impact of leverage and liquidity on financial distress, with a specific focus on the moderating role of profitability. The research focuses on consumer cyclicals companies listed on the IDX from 2019 to 2021, with a sample selected through purposive sampling based on specific criteria. The study employs various analysis techniques, including descriptive statistics to summarize data characteristics, multicollinearity tests to ensure the reliability of logistic regression results, and moderated regression analysis to explore the interaction effects. The findings indicate that while leverage significantly increases financial distress, liquidity does not have a direct effect. Interestingly, profitability moderates the relationship between liquidity and financial distress, suggesting a nuanced role in how liquidity impacts a firm's financial stability. However, profitability does not moderate the influence of leverage on financial distress. These results have implications for understanding the complex dynamics of financial health in consumer cyclicals companies, highlighting areas for further research.
