The Personality Development of the Character Nemoto Kahoko in the Drama Series "Kahogo No Kahoko" by Kazuhiko Yukawa (A Study of Literary Psychology). Thesis, Japanese Language Education Study Program. Faculty of Language and Art. State University of Jakarta The aim of this study is to explore the personality development of the character Nemoto Kahoko in the drama series "Kahogo no Kahoko." The approach utilized in this research is literary psychology, and the method employed is the observe-andrecord technique for data collection. The gathered data are analyzed with reference to Erik Erikson's psychosocial theory, which encompasses eight stages of human personality development: trust vs mistrust, autonomy vs shame and doubt, initiative vs guilt, industry vs inferiority, identity vs identity confusion, intimacy vs isolation, generativity vs stagnation, and ego integrity vs despair. This research will focus on the stages of autonomy vs shame and doubt, initiative vs guilt, industry vs inferiority, identity vs role confusion, and intimacy vs isolation related to the character Nemoto Kahoko. After analyzing these five stages in Kahoko's development, it can be concluded that there is personality growth. Initially portrayed as highly dependent on her parents, Kahoko undergoes a transformation into a more independent individual capable of making decisions on her own after meeting Mugino Hajime and navigating the autonomy vs shame and doubt stage. Kahoko's awareness of her dependence on her parents motivates her to learn to live independently with the assistance of Hajime. Keywords : personality development, psychosocial theories, literary psychology, nemoto kahoko
