Abstract

*********ABSTRACT***** This study explores the influence of childhood trauma on the way a person chooses their partner through trauma bonding as depicted by the main character in the novel Girl in Pieces by Kathleen Glasgow. By using qualitative research methodology, it emphasizes on contextual analysis and interpretation of written material by applying psychological literary criticism and utilizing Erik H. Erikson's 8 developmental stages of identity as a framework for analyzing the two main characters, namely Charlotte Davis and Riley West, and connecting it with the traumatic bonding theory by Patrick Carnes. The findings of this study unveil that the two main characters grapple with enduring trauma, resulting in disparate life outcomes marked by unhealthy relationship dynamics and Child Grooming behavior.
