Abstract

Anak putus sekolah merupakan kondisi anak-anak kehilangan kesempatan untuk menerima dan merasakan pendidikan formal. Fenomena ini merupakan permasalahan yang mengancam kualitas sumber daya manusia suatu negara. Penelitian ini dilakukan bertujuan untuk melihat persepsi dari orang tua pada anak mereka yang putus sekolah. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga bertujuan melihat faktor-faktor yang mendorong terjadinya anak putus sekolah seperti faktor ekonomi dan faktor lingkungan sosial. Dengan menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif fenomenologis untuk mengkaji lebih mendalam atas fenomena yang terjadi. Penelitian ini dilakukan di lingkungan RW 004 Kelurahan Cipinang, Kecamatan Pulo Gadung, Kota Jakarta Timur. Dengan teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu observasi dan wawancara. Jumlah subjek dalam penelitian ini terdapat tujuh keluarga yang anak-anak mereka putus sekolah. Analisis data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan model dari Miles & Huberman yang terdiri dari empat tahapan yaitu pengumpulan, reduksi, penyajian, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Dengan hasil penelitian bahwa para orang tua memiliki persepsi pendidikan bukan kebutuhan utama yang harus terpenuhi. Faktor yang paling utama yang mendorong anak putus sekolah adalah faktor ekonomi orang tua mereka sedangkan faktor lingkungan sosial tidak mendorong anak-anak untuk putus sekolah. Oleh karena itu, para orang tua harus menguatkan perannya didalam keluarga dengan menjamin terpenuhnya pendidikan anak-anak. Selain itu, anak-anak juga harus memiliki kesadaran yang tinggi akan pentingnya pendidikan bagi masa depan mereka. ***** Dropping out of school is a condition where children lose the opportunity to receive and experience formal education. This phenomenon is a problem that threatens the quality of a country's human resources. This research was conducted with the aim of looking at parents' perceptions of their children who have dropped out of school. Apart from that, this research also aims to look at the factors that encourage children to drop out of school, such as economic factors and the social environment. By using phenomenological qualitative research methods to examine in more depth the phenomena that occur. This research was conducted in RW 004, Cipinang Village, Pulo Gadung District, East Jakarta City. The data collection techniques used are observation and interviews. The number of subjects in this study were seven families whose children had dropped out of school. Data analysis in this research uses the Miles & Huberman model which consists of four stages, namely collection, reduction, presentation and conclusion. The research results show that parents have the perception that education is not a primary need that must be met. The most important factor that drives children to drop out of school is their parents' economic factors, while social environmental factors do not encourage children to drop out of school. Therefore, parents must impose themselves in the family by ensuring that their children's education is complete. Apart from that, children must also have a high awareness of the importance of education for their future.
