Abstract

Komunikasi interpersonal merupakan komunikasi yang dilakukan oleh dua individu. Pada era modern perkembangan media sosial semakin pesat. Komunikasi interpersonal menjadi semakin penting, terutama pada pasangan pernikahan jarak jauh. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana komunikasi interpersonal pasangan pernikahan yang menjalani hubungan jarak jauh untuk menjaga keharmonisan dengan menggunakan fitur - fitur media sosial WhatsApp. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori Komunikasi Interpersonal yang dikemukakan oleh Joseph A. Devito. Teori tersebut menilai komunikasi interpersonal dengan empat dimensi, keterbukaan (openness), empati (emphaty), sikap mendukung (supportiveness), sikap positif (positiveness), dan kesetaraan (equality). Selain itu, penelitian ini juga menggunakan fitur - fitur yang tersedia di media sosial WhatsApp. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan dan metode kualitatif deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data dengan cara wawancara lima narasumber yang menjalani pernikahan jarak jauh, narasumber tersebut dibagi menjadi 1 key informan dan 4 informan, dan dokumentasi. Dalam analisis data dengan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa komunikasi interpersonal pasangan pernikahan jarak jauh memanfaatkan fitur - fitur media sosial WhatsApp. Fitur - fitur WhatsApp yang sering digunakan untuk menunjang komunikasi interpersonal seperti voice call, video call, voice note, tarik pesan, share live location, share screen, share foto dan video, pesan tertulis, dan connection to other device. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini bahwa pasangan pernikahan jarak jauh telah melakukan komunikasi interpersonal sesuai dengan teori Joseph A. Devito. Komunikasi interpersonal antar pasangan pernikahan jarak jauh juga terbantu dengan kemajuan fitur - fitur WhatsApp. Kata Kunci : Komunikasi Interpersonal, Pernikahan Jarak Jauh, Fitur - Fitur WhatsApp Interpersonal communication is communication performed by two individuals. In the modern era, the development of social media is accelerating. Interpersonal communication is becoming increasingly important, especially in long-distance marriage couples. This study aims to find out how interpersonal communication between marriage partners who are in a long-distance relationship is to maintain harmony by using WhatsApp social media features. This study used the theory of Interpersonal Communication proposed by Joseph A. Devito. The theory assesses interpersonal communication with four dimensions, openness, empathy, supportive attitude, positive attitude, and equality. In addition, this study also used the features available on WhatsApp social media. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach and method. The data collection technique by interviewing five informants who undergo long-distance marriage, the informant is divided into 1 key informant and 4 informants, and documentation. In data analysis with data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions drawn. The results of this study show that interpersonal communication of long - distance married couples uses WhatsApp social media features. WhatsApp features that are often used to support interpersonal communication such as voice calls, video calls, voice notes, pull messages, share live locations, share screens, photo and video shares, written messages, and connection to other devices. The conclusion of this study is that long-distance marriage partners have made interpersonal communication in accordance with Joseph A. Devito. Interpersonal communication between remote marriage partners is also helped by the advancement of WhatsApp features. Keywords : Interpersonal Communication, Long Distance Marriage, Features WhatsApp
