Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan menganalisis bagaimana dampak, keadaan, dan proses integrasi masyarakat Tionghoa di Pasar Glodok Akibat diskriminasi rasial pasca kerusuhan Mei 1998. Peristiwa kerusuhan Mei 1998 merupakan peristiwa diskriminasi rasial yang terjadi karena adanya stereotype yang berkembang di masyarakat kemudian dilampiaskan pada kerusuhan Mei 1998 yang awalnya merupakan Gerakan mahasiswa menjadi Gerakan anti Tionghoa. Masyarakat Tionghoa harus hidup dengan stereotype yang melekat di masyarakat. Untuk bisa hidup berdampingan masyarakat Tionghoa harus melalui proses integrasi yang Panjang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis proses integrasi masyarakat Tionghoa di Glodok . Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah observasi, wawancara, dokumen, dan studi pustaka. Sedangkan dalam Teknik analisis data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan data collection, data reduction, data display, dan conclusion drawing/verification. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa proses integrasi masyarakat Tionghoa melalui dua proses yaitu Akulturasi dan Akomodasi. ***** This research aims to find out and analyze the impact, situation and process of integration of the Chinese community in Glodok Market as a result of racial discrimination after the May 1998 riots. The May 1998 riots were an event of racial discrimination that occurred because of stereotypes that developed in society which were then vented in the May riots. 1998, which was originally a student movement, became an anti-Chinese movement. Chinese people have to live with the stereotypes inherent in society. To be able to live side by side, the Chinese community must go through a long integration process. This research aims to analyze the integration process of the Chinese community in Glodok. This study used qualitative research methods. The data collection techniques used were observation, interviews, documents and literature study. Meanwhile, the data analysis technique in this research uses data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification. The research results show that the integration process of Chinese society goes through two processes, namely Acculturation and Accommodation.
