Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh persepsi stigma publik terhadap sikap mencari bantuan psikologis profesional pada dewasa awal. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan jumlah responden 526 individu dewasa awal yang berusia 18-40 tahun, berdomisili di Indonesia serta menggunakan teknik sampling insidental. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah Perception of Stigmatization by Others for Seeking Help yang disusun oleh Vogel, Wade, dan Aschmen (2009) untuk mengukur persepsi stigma publik dan Attitudes Toward Seeking Professional Psychological Help Short-Form yang disusun oleh Fischer dan Farina (1995) untuk mengukur sikap mencari bantuan psikologis profesional yang telah diadaptasi sesuai dengan bahasa Indonesia. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa tidak terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan pada persepsi stigma publik terhadap sikap mencari bantuan psikologis profesional. Implikasi penelitian ini adalah persepsi stigma publik tidak dapat menjadi acuan utama dalam memprediksi sikap mencari bantuan. Perlu dipertimbangkan kembali faktor-faktor lain yang lebih berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap sikap mencari bantuan psikologis profesional seperti stigma diri, literasi kesehatan mental, maskulinitas, dan lokus kontrol. Kata Kunci: persepsi stigma publik, sikap mencari bantuan psikologis profesional, dewasa awal. ***** This study aims to determine the effect of perceived public stigma on attitudes towards seeking professional psychological help in early adulthood. This research is a quantitative study with a total of 526 early adult respondents aged 18-40 years, domiciled in Indonesia, and using incidental sampling techniques. The instruments used are Perception of Stigmatization by Others for Seeking Help compiled by Vogel, Wade, and Aschmen (2009) to measure perceptions of public stigma and Attitudes Toward Seeking Professional Psychological Help Short-Form compiled by Fischer and Farina (1995) to measure attitudes towards seeking professional psychological help which has been adapted to Indonesian. The results of this study indicate that there is no significant effect on perceived public stigma on attitudes towards seeking professional psychological help. The implication of this study is that the perceived public stigma cannot be the main reference in predicting help-seeking attitudes. It is necessary to reconsider other factors that have a more significant effect on attitudes towards seeking professional psychological help such as self-stigma, mental health literacy, masculinity, and locus of control.
