Abstract
***** Emerging adulthood is a vulnerable time full of instability. The death of a parent will be an additional stressor for emerging adulthood individuals who are adapting to their new duties. Emerging adulthood individuals are asked to remain independent and put aside their feelings of grief. Perceived social support is one of the factors related to grief. When individuals are grieving, the grief felt can make perceived social support less significant. This study aims to find out whether there is a relationship between perceived social support and grief in emerging adulthood who experiences the death of a parent. The method of this research is quantitative using a questionnaire. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling with a total of 100 respondents. The characteristics of the respondents were emerging adulthood individuals (18-29 years old) who had experienced the death of one of their parents in the last 2-12 months. Data were obtained using the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support for the perceived social support variable and the Texas Revised Inventory of Grief for the grief variable. The results showed that perceived social support was not associated with grief.
