Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan preferensi pemilihan pasangan ditinjau berdasarkan urutan kelahiran pada dewasa awal di Indonesia. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan uji komparatif nonparametrik. Alat ukur yang digunakan adalah instrumen Preferensi Pemilihan Pasangan untuk Orang Indonesia yang dikonstruk kembali oleh tim peneliti dan dosen berdasarkan instrumen Preferences in Mate Selection oleh Buss & Barness (1986) pada tahun 2024. Sampel penelitian ini terdiri atas 737 responden yang berusia 20-30 tahun, belum menikah, dan berkewarganegaraan Indonesia. Data diolah dengan uji chi-square. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan preferensi yang ditinjau dari urutan kelahiran pada 3 karakteristik, yaitu latar belakang sosial ekonomi, belum pernah menikah, dan sehat mental. Kata Kunci: Preferensi pemilihan pasangan, dewasa awal, urutan kelahiran This study aims to determine the differences in mate selection preferences based on birth order in early adulthood in Indonesia. This research uses a quantitative method with a non-parametric comparative test. The measuring instrument used is the Mate Selection Preferences for Indonesians, reconstructed by the research team and lecturers based on the Preferences in Mate Selection instrument by Buss & Barnes (1986) in 2024. The sample consists of 737 respondents aged 20-30 years, unmarried, and Indonesian citizens. The data were processed using chi-square test. The results of this study indicate that there are differences in preferences based on birth order in 3 characteristics: socio-economic background, never married, and mental health.
