Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh dari fenomena fear of missing out (FoMO) terhadap kecenderungan atau impulsive buying tendency pada emerging adults di wilayah Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang dan Bekasi (Jabodetabek). Penelitian ini melibatkan sampel penelitian yang terdiri dari 108 emerging adults berusia 18-25 tahun. Fear of missing out (FoMO) diukur dengan menggunakan Fear of Missing Out Scale yang terdiri dari 20 item, dan kecenderungan atau impulsive buying tendency diukur dengan menggunakan Impulsive Buying Tendency Scale yang terdiri dari 32 item. Kedua variabel diukur dengan skala likert. Hasil uji signifikansi dan analisis regresi sederhana menunjukkan bahwa fear of missing out (FoMO) berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap impulsive buying tendency dengan nilai R square = 0.150. Mayoritas partisipan penelitian ini menunjukkan tingkat fear of missing out (FoMO) dan impulsive buying tendency yang sedang hingga tinggi. Kelompok usia 21-22 tahun, perempuan, individu yang gemar berbelanja online, dan individu dengan pendapatan rendah cenderung lebih rentan terhadap kecenderungan pembelian impulsif. Kata Kunci: fear of missing out, impulsive buying tendency, emerging adults, jabodetabek***** This study aims to examine the influence of the fear of missing out (FoMO) phenomenon on impulsive buying tendencies among emerging adults in the Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi (Jabodetabek) area. This study involved a research sample consisting of 108 emerging adults aged 18-25. Fear of missing out (FoMO) was measured using the Fear of Missing Out Scale, which consisted of 20 items, and impulsive buying tendency was measured using the Impulsive Buying Tendency Scale, which consisted of 32 items. Both variables were measured using a Likert scale. The results of the significance test and simple regression analysis showed that fear of missing out (FoMO) had a positive and significant influence on impulsive buying tendency, with an R-squared value of 0.150. The majority of participants in this study showed moderate to high levels of fear of missing out (FoMO) and impulsive buying tendency. Individuals aged 21-22, females, those who enjoy online shopping, and those with low incomes were more prone to impulsive buying tendencies.
