Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi minat mahasiswa akuntansi dalam mengikuti ujian Chartered Accountant. Peneliti menjadikan mahasiswa program studi akuntansi angkatan 2020, 2021, 2022, dan 2023 di Fakultas Ekonomi UNJ sebagai populasi. Sampel dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 107 yang didapatkan melalui teknik purposive sampling. Penelitian ini menggunakan analisis regresi linier berganda, dengan jenis data primer yang diolah melalui aplikasi IBM SPSS versi 22. Jumlah akuntan yang memiliki sertifikasi Chartered Accountant tidak sebanding dengan jumlah lulusan mahasiswa akuntansi di seluruh Indonesia yang dimana mengindikasikan bahwa rendahnya persentase mahasiswa lulusan akuntansi yang menekuni pekerjaan sebagai akuntan profesional dan rendahnya minat mahasiswa untuk memperoleh sertifikasi akuntan profesional. Hasil dari penelitian menyebutkan bahwa keseluruhan variabel yang ada yaitu motivasi kualitas, motivasi penghargaan/pengakuan, dan pertimbangan pasar kerja secara statistik dan secara individual berpengaruh terhadap minat mahasiswa untuk mengikuti ujian Chartered Accountant. Penelitian ini mendukung Theory of Planned Behavior dalam menjelaskan hubungan antara sikap (attitude) dan perilaku (behavioral) pada tindakan manusia. Penelitian ini dapat menjadi pertimbangan bagi pemerintah untuk menyediakan lapangan pekerjaan yang dapat menyerap mahasiswa yang sudah bersertifikasi Chartered Accountant. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga dapat menjadi pertimbangan bagi universitas untuk dapat menyelenggarakan seminar atau workshop yang mampu menghadirkan para ahli di bidang akuntansi untuk berbagi pengetahuan dan pengalaman sehingga bisa memotivasi mahasiswa untuk mengikuti dan lulus ujian Chartered Accountant. ***** This study aims to determine the factors that influence the interest of accounting students in taking the Chartered Accountant exam. Researchers chose students of accounting study programs class 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023 at the Faculty of Economics UNJ as a population. The sample in this study amounted to 107 which were obtained through purposive sampling technique. This study uses multiple linear regression analysis, with the type of primary data and processed through the IBM SPSS version 22 application. The number of accountants who have Chartered Accountant certification is not proportional to the number of accounting student graduates throughout Indonesia, which indicates that a low percentage of accounting graduate students who pursue work as professional accountants and low student interest in obtaining professional accountant certification. The results of the study state that all existing variables, quality motivation, reward/recognition motivation, and labor market considerations statistically and individually affect student interest in taking the Chartered Accountant exam. This research supports the Theory of Planned Behavior in explaining the relationship between attitude and behavior in human action. This research can be a consideration for the government to provide jobs that can absorb students who are certified Chartered Accountants. In addition, this research can also be a consideration for universities to be able to organize seminars or workshops that are able to invite experts of accounting to share knowledge and experience so that they can motivate students to take and pass the Chartered Accountant exam.
