Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara di depan umum pada peserta Paket C di PKBM Pandu Pelajar Mandiri Lapas Narkotika Kelas 2A Cipinang melalui metode demonstrasi. Dalam penelitian ini, digunakanlah metodologi riset aksi Kemmis dan McTaggart, dengan metode pembelajaran berfokus pada demonstrasi. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan yang signifikan dalam keterampilan public speaking peserta. Angka tersebut meningkat dari 33,57% di siklus I menjadi 52,857% di siklus II. Peningkatan ini juga tercermin dalam aspek kedisiplinan, penampilan, kesopanan, partisipasi aktif, dan kepercayaan diri peserta. Dari hasil tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa metode demonstrasi efektif dalam meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran public speaking dan bisa diadopsi oleh lembaga pendidikan lain. Saran untuk peningkatan meliputi: meningkatkan interaksi aktif peserta, pendekatan inovatif dan motivasional dari pendidik, pemantauan dan evaluasi berkelanjutan oleh kepala PKBM, serta penelitian lebih lanjut untuk inovasi dalam metodologi pembelajaran. Kata kunci: komunikasi, public speaking, riset aksi, demonstrasi **** This study aims to enhance public speaking skills among participants with a high school equivalent education level at the PKBM Pandu Pelajar Mandiri in the Narcotics Class 2A Penitentiary in Cipinang through demonstration methods. In this research, the action research methodology of Kemmis and McTaggart was utilized, with the instructional focus on demonstration. The results of the study demonstrate a significant improvement in participants' public speaking skills, with the percentage increasing from 33.57% in Cycle I to 52.857% in Cycle II. This improvement is also evident in aspects such as discipline, appearance, etiquette, active participation, and participants' self-confidence. From these results, it can be concluded that the demonstration method is effective in enhancing the quality of public speaking education and can be adopted by other educational institutions. Suggestions for improvement include increasing active participant interaction, employing innovative and motivational approaches by educators, ongoing monitoring and evaluation by PKBM administrators, and further research for innovations in teaching methodologies.
