Abstract

*****ABSTRAK***** Studi ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis perspektif penonton dalam kolom ulasan pengguna pada laman IMDb mengenai film “A Man Called Otto” yang rilis pada tahun 2022. Dengan menggunakan teknik analisis kualitatif deskriptif-interpretatif dan teori Respon Pembaca oleh Wolfgang Iser, studi ini berfokus pada menganalisa salah satu isu yang diangkat oleh film ini, yaitu “bunuh diri”. Merujuk pada ulasan positif, neutral, maupun negatif dari para pengulas yang telah menyaksikan film tersebut dan meninggalkan ulasan pada laman IMDb, hasil dari pandangan audiens tentang kasus bunuh diri pada film adalah bahwa lebih banyak pengulas yang tidak setuju akan penggambaran adegan bunuh diri pada film. Bentuk ketidaksetujuan ditunjukkan oleh faktor-faktor seperti tidak realistisnya penggambaran karakter pada film. Kata kunci: Respon Pembaca, IMDb, bunuh diri **** ******ABSTRACT***** This study aims to analyze the audience's perspective in the user review column on the IMDb page regarding the film “A Man Called Otto” which was released in 2022. This study uses descriptive-interpretative qualitative method and Wolfgang Iser's reader response theory to examine one of the key issues raised by the movie, namely the portrayal of suicide. In examining the reviews from the IMDb page, it becomes evident that the majority of reviewers who have watched the film and left reviews on the site hold negative views regarding the portrayal of suicide in the film. The disapproval is shown by factors such as the unrealistic portrayal of the characters in the movie. Keywords: Reader Response, IMDb, suicide
