Abstract
Bullying in early childhood education has become a growing concern due to its impact on children's social, emotional, and cognitive development. This study investigates the effectiveness of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) and Montessori methods in reducing bullying behavior in children aged 5–6 years, with a focus on gender differences. The PjBL and Montessori approaches were applied to address both verbal and non-verbal bullying, which manifests differently in boys and girls. The research employed a quantitative experimental design, with sample selection using random techniques, and experimental classes selected at Ananda Islamic Kindergarten. Pre-tests and post-tests were conducted to measure bullying behavior in the experimental and control groups, followed by a 2x2 factorial ANOVA analysis. The results showed that both approaches were effective in reducing bullying behavior, with significant differences based on gender. The integration of PjBL and Montessori methods, tailored to the developmental needs of boys and girls, can create a more inclusive and supportive learning environment, thereby reducing bullying behavior. Testing the interaction between approach and gender yielded an F value of 34.434 with a probability of 0.000, leading to the rejection of H0 and the acceptance of H1. Therefore, it was concluded that there is a significant interaction between the two approaches and gender in relation to non-verbal bullying behavior among children aged 5–6 years.
