Abstract

Penelitian ini hendak menjelaskan representasi beauty privilege dalam video klip ‘Tutur Batin’ menurut semiotika Roland Barthes, mendeskripsikan konstruksi sosial menciptakan beauty privilege dalam video klip, serta mitos kecantikan berperan sebagai alat kontrol perempuan dalam video klip ‘Tutur Batin’. Penelitian ini adalah jenis penelitian kualitatif. Obyek penelitian ini adalah video klip ‘Tutur Batin’ karya Yura Yunita dengan sutradara Gianni Fajri. Teknik pengumpulan data melalui pengamatan terhadap video klip ‘Tutur Batin’, menggunakan literatur dari jurnal, buku, internet, dan artikel. Teknik analisis data menggunakan model analisis semiotika Roland Barthes dengan tiga tahap analisis, yakni denotasi, konotasi, dan mitos, serta konsep mitos kecantikan dari Naomi Wolf. Waktu penelitian ini berlangsung mulai dari bulan September 2024 – Januari 2025 dengan Luh Gede Saraswati Putri dan HipHipYura sebagai triangulasi data. Hasil temuan penelitian ini menunjukkan adanya representasi beauty privilege yang ditampilkan dalam video klip ‘Tutur Batin’ yakni Tata yang dipinggirkan dan diabaikan oleh teman – temannya yang cantik, dan Mutia diperlakukan dengan kasar oleh Suaminya. Konstruksi sosial mengenai standar kecantikan perempuan kerap kali membuat peluang perempuan dalam membangun relasi, pekerjaan, dan pendidikan menjadi terbatas. Kecantikan masih menjadi faktor penentu, apakah perempuan akan lebih mudah atau tidak diterima dalam berbagai aspek dan konteks pada kehidupan sosial. Hal ini membuktikan bahwa kecantikan dapat mengontrol kisah hidup perempuan, baik dalam ruang lingkup keluarga, pertemanan, maupun rumah tangga. ***** This research aims to explain the representation of beauty privilege in the video clip 'Tutur Batin' according to Roland Barthes semiotics, describe the social construction of creating beauty privilege in the video clip, and the myth of beauty as a means of controlling women in the video clip 'Tutur Batin'. This research is a qualitative research. The object of this research is the video clip 'Tutur Batin' by Yura Yunita with director Gianni Fajri. Data collection techniques through observation of the video clip 'Tutur Batin', using literature from journals, books, the internet, and articles. The data analysis technique uses the Roland Barthes semiotic analysis model with three stages of analysis, namely denotation, connotation, and myth, as well as the concept of beauty myth from Naomi Wolf. This research took place from September 2024 - January 2025 with Luh Gede Saraswati Putri and HipHipYura as data triangulation. The findings of this research show that there is a representation of beauty privilege shown in the video clip 'Tutur Batin', namely Tata who is marginalized and ignored by her beautiful friends, and Mutia is treated harshly by her husband. The social construction of female beauty standards often limits women's opportunities in building relationships, employment and education. Beauty is still a determining factor in whether or not women will be more easily accepted in various aspects and contexts of social life. This proves that beauty can control women's life stories, both in the scope of family, friendship, and household.
