Abstract

Pengalaman siswa SMA dalam pembelajaran sejarah menjadi suatu hal menarik yang perlu dikaji dalam studi pendidikan sejarah. Melalui pengalaman ini kelak dapat digali ataupun dievaluasi hal-hal apa saja yang perlu diperbaiki agar tujuan pembelajaran sejarah bisa tercapai. Nasionalisme adalah isu yang hingga saat ini senantiasa panas dan relevan jika dikaji untuk Papua, mengingat masih banyak masalah dan konflik yang terjadi. Pembelajaran sejarah yang didapat oleh siswa SMA di Papua, seharusnya dapat menumbuhkan ataupun memperkokoh jiwa nasionalisme generasi muda Papua khususnya Orang Asli Papua (OAP). Melalui teknik pengumpulan dan pengolahan data menggunakan Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA), hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa para informan yang merupakan lulusan SMA di Papua tidak merasakan pengalaman belajar sejarah lokal sebagai sesuatu yang menarik dan dapat menumbuhkan, menguatkan ataupun meningkatkan nasionalisme keindonesiaan mereka. Bahkan menurut pengalaman sebagian mereka, sejarah lokal Papua dan nasionalisme adalah menjadi hal yang tabu untuk dibicarakan, dijelaskan ataupun didiskusikan, bahkan di bangku sekolah. Berdasarkan pengamatan mereka, para guru sejarah pun cenderung menghindar atau enggan membahas terlalu dalam tentang sejarah lokal dan nasionalisme masyarakat Papua. Bagi para alumni ini, pembelajaran sejarah khususnya sejarah lokal masih menjadi materi pelajaran yang kurang menarik, kurang berkesan dan cenderung membosankan.******************* The experience of high school students in learning history is an interesting thing that needs to be studied in the study of history education. Through the experience, things can be explored or evaluated that need to be improved so that the objectives of history learning can be achieved. Nationalism is still a hot-button and relevant issue when studied for Papua, considering that there are still many problems and conflicts that occur. The history lessons learned by high school students in Papua should be able to foster or strengthen the spirit of nationalism of the young Papuan generation, especially Indigenous Papuans (OAP). Through data collection and processing techniques using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA), the results of this research show that the informants who are high school graduates in Papua do not feel the experience of learning local history as something interesting and can grow, strengthen or increase their Indonesian nationalism. In fact, according to some of their experiences, local Papuan history and nationalism are taboo things to talk about, explain or discuss, even at school. Based on their observations, history teachers tend to avoid or are reluctant to discuss too deeply about local history and the nationalism of the Papuan people. For these alumni, learning history, especially local history, is still subject matter that is less interesting, less impressive and tends to be boring.
