Abstract

Tesis ini mengeksplorasi penggambaran nihilisme moral pada karakter utama dalam serial Peaky Blinders (2013) karya Steven Knight. Penelitian ini menawarkan analisis filosofis terhadap karakter utama dari serial Peaky Blinders untuk meneliti bagaimana serial tersebut menggambarkan konsep dari nihilism moral dan efeknya terhadap perilaku karakter dalam cerita. Elemen visual dan verbal dalam serial diteliti menggunakan konsep yang diutarakan oleh Joseph M. Boggs dan Dennis W. Petrie dalam buku mereka yang berjudul The Art of Watching Films untuk menunjukkan bagaimana konsep nihilisme moral diilustrasikan dalam karya sastra kontemporer. Penelitian ini membahas bagaimana karakter utama memahami nihilisme melalui tiga tahapan nihilisme yang dikemukakan oleh Nietszche. Penelitian ini juga membahas mengenai implikasi dari moral nihilisme yang diterapkan oleh karakter utama melalui konsep empat jenis personalitas mempengaruhi dinamika kehidupan karakter utama. Tesis ini bertujuuan untuk memberikan wawasan mengenai moral nihilisme di karya fiksi sejarah, tahapan sebelum nihilisme tercapai, dan efek dari moral nihilisme terhadap kepribadian.*****This thesis explores the depiction of moral nihilism in the main character of Peaky Blinders (2013), a series by Steven Knight. The study offers a philosophical analysis of the main character to examine how the series portrays the philosophical stance of moral nihilism and its effects on the character's personality within the narrative. The visual and verbal elements in the series are analyzed using the concepts outlined by Joseph M. Boggs and Dennis W. Petrie in their book The Art of Watching Films to demonstrate how the concept of moral nihilism is illustrated in contemporary literature. The research discusses how the main character comprehends nihilism through the three stages of nihilism proposed by Nietzsche. It also examines the implications of moral nihilism applied by the main character, using the concept of four personality types to analyze how it influences the dynamics of the main character's life. This thesis aims to provide insights into moral nihilism in historical fiction, the stages leading to nihilism, and the effects of moral nihilism on personality.
