Penelitian ini berfokus pada 3 tujuan, yaitu : (1) mengidentifikasi dan menganalisis perbandingan media dan jenis santet (Jawa) Indonesia dan Korea Selatan dalam novel Sewu Dino dan film 방법 : 재차의 (Bang beob : Jae-chaui). (2) mendeskripsikan hasil dari nilai kepercayaan masayarakat Indonesia dan Korea Selatan terhadap santet dan perdukunan (3) menemukan hasil representasi santet (Jawa) Indonesia dan Korea Selatan yang terdapat pada novel Sewu Dino dan film 방법 : 재차의 (Bang beob : Jae-chaui). Pendekatan yang dilakukan dalam penelitian ini adalah dengan menggunakan sosiologi budaya Georg Simmel yang berusaha untuk mencari nilai-nilai sosial dan budaya serta mencari tahu bagimana respon masyarakat terhadap suatu budaya iu sendiri. Teori ini digunakan untuk mengetahui apa saja nilai-nilai sosial budaya dan bagamana respon terhadap suatu budaya di dalam objek. Sebelum melakukan penelitian tersebut, terlebih dulu melakukan analisis struktur novel yang terdiri dari tema, latar, tokoh alur, serta melakukan analisis struktur film yang terdiri dari sekuen dan adegan. Selanjutnya dilakukan analisis representasi yang berusaha untuk menggali lebih jauh terhadap bentuk perwujudan santet yang terbagi menjadi 4 poin, yaitu : jenis santet, media santet, korban yang ditimbulkan dari santet, dan cara untuk mencegah santet. Terakhir, penelitian ini berusaha membandingan hasil dari representasi dari dua karya sastra tersebut menggunakan teori sastra bandingan. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan sosiologi budaya. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari data primer dan skunder. Data primer dari penenlitian ini adalah novel sewu dino sedangkan data sekunder dalam penelitin ini adalah jurnal, buku, artikel, serta naskah dari hasil transkip film 방법 : 재차의 (Bang beob : Jae-chaui). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kedua karya tersebut merepresentasikan santet sebagai praktik mistis yang memiliki akar kuat dalam budaya lokal masing-masing. Di Indonesia, santet digambarkan sebagai praktik yang berkaitan dengan balas dendam dan kutukan, sedangkan di Korea Selatan, santet atau ilmu hitam digambarkan sebagai kekuatan jahat yang dapat dimanipulasi untuk tujuan jahat. Representation of Witchcraft in the Novel Sewu Dino and the Film 방법 : 재차의 (Bangbeob-Jaechaeui) from a Cultural Sociology Perspective. Thesis. Jakarta. Indonesian Literature Study Program. This research focuses on three objectives: (1) to identify and analyze the comparison of media and types of witchcraft (Javanese) in Indonesia and South Korea in the novel Sewu Dino and the film 방법 : 재차의 (Bangbeob : Jaechaeui), (2) to describe the societal beliefs regarding witchcraft and shamanism in both Indonesian and South Korean contexts, and (3) to uncover the representation of Javanese Indonesian and South Korean witchcraft in the novel Sewu Dino and the film 방법 : 재차의 (Bangbeob : Jaechaeui). This study employs Georg Simmel's cultural sociology approach, which aims to explore social and cultural values and to understand societal responses to specific cultural elements. This theory is applied to examine the cultural and social values represented in the subject matter and the societal reactions towards those cultural representations. Prior to conducting this research, an initial analysis of the novel’s structure, including theme, setting, character, and plot, as well as the film’s structure, focusing on sequences and scenes, was undertaken. Subsequently, a representation analysis was conducted to delve into the manifestations of witchcraft, which are categorized into four aspects: types of witchcraft, witchcraft media, the victims affected by witchcraft, and methods to counter witchcraft. Finally, the research compares the representations in both literary works using comparative literature theory. The method used in this research is qualitative descriptive with a cultural sociology approach. The data sources consist of primary and secondary data. The primary data are derived from the novel Sewu Dino, while the secondary data include journals, books, articles, and transcripts from the film 방법 : 재차의 (Bangbeob : Jaechaeui). The findings reveal that both works portray witchcraft as a mystical practice with deep-rooted connections to their respective local cultures. In Indonesia, witchcraft is depicted as a practice associated with revenge and curses, whereas in South Korea, witchcraft or black magic is portrayed as an evil force that can be manipulated for malevolent purposes.
