Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan dan membandingkan nilai moral tokoh utama pada novel anak berjudul Negeri Bawah Air karya Ary Nilandari dan Bridge to Terabithia karya Katherine Paterson. Penelitian ini menggunakan teknik deskriptif kualitatif dengan metode penelitian pustaka. Data yang digunakan berupa kata dan kalimat dari novel Negeri Bawah Air dan Bridge to Terabithia yang berkaitan dengan nilai moral tokoh utama. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah teknik baca dan catat. Pendekatan penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan objektif dengan metode sastra bandingan. Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh sebagai berikut, 1) nilai moral tokoh utama dalam kedua novel berdasarkan teori Burhan Nurgiantoro, yaitu ditemukan 7 kutipan moralitas hubungan manusia dengan diri sendiri, 18 kutipan moralitas hubungan manusia dengan sesama dan lingkungan, dan 7 moralitas hubungan manusia dengan Tuhan, 2) perbandingan nilai moral tokoh utama dalam kedua novel. Persamaan pada moralitas hubungan manusia dengan diri sendiri adalah kemandirian, dan keberanian, sedangkan perbedaannya adalah kerja keras. Persamaan pada moralitas hubungan manusia dengan sesama dan lingkungan adalah kepedulian, kerjasama, empati, berbakti kepada orang tua, sedangkan perbedaanya yaitu saling menolong, kesombongan, dan kebohongan. Persamaan pada moralitas hubungan manusia dengan Tuhan adalah beribadah dan keikhlasan. Kata kunci: Nilai moral, tokoh utama, novel anak, sastra bandingan ***** This research aims to describe and compare the moral value of the main characters in two children’s novels, “Negeri Bawah Air” by Ari Nilandary and “Bridge to Terabithia” by Katherine Paterson. This research used a qualitative descriptive technique with a literature research method. The data used are in the form of words and sentences from the novels “Negeri Bawah Air” and “Bridge to Terabithia” related to the moral values of the main characters. The data collection technique used is read and record technique. This research uses an objective approach with a comparative literature method. The results of the research are as follows: 1) the moral values of the main characters in both novels based on Burhan Nurgiantoro’s theory, namely 7 quotes on human morality in relation with oneself, 18 quotes on human morality in relation with others and the environment, and 7 moralities on human relations with God, 2) comparison of the moral values of the main characters in both novels. The similarities in morality in relation with oneself are independence and bravery, while the differences are hard work. The similarities in morality in relation with others and the environment are concern, cooperation, empathy, devotion to parents, arrogance, and dishonesty. The similarities in morality in relation with God are worship and acceptance. Keywords: moral values, main characters, children’s novel, comparative literature
