Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh Kebutuhan terhadap material kampas rem yang ramah lingkungan dengan performa baik. Tujuan Penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh variasi serbuk tempurung kelapa, serbuk kayu sengon dan serbuk cangkang kerang hijau terhadap performa kekerasan, koefisien gesek dan kuat perpatahan yang dihasilkan. Metode pengujian yang digunakan adalah kekerasan Vickers yang hasilnya di konversi ke Rockwell H, koefisien gesek statis dan uji kuat perpatahan. Hasil pengujian menunjukan nilai kekerasan spesimen meningkat jika presentase serbuk kayu ditambah, berada pada rentang 72 - 77 HRH. Hasil pengujian kofisien gesek statis menunjukan bahwa presentase serbuk kayu berpengaruh terhadap performa koefisien gesek yang dihasilkan dengan rentang nilai 0.21 – 0.3. Pengujian kuat perpatahan menghasilkan nilai 26 – 33.4 N/mm2. Standar bahan gesek menurut SAE J661 adalah memiliki kekerasan 68 -105 HRH, koefisien gesek 0.3-0.6 dan kuat perpatahan 4.8 – 15 N/mm2. Artinya spesimen uji sudah dalam kategori baik pada sifat kekerasan, sementara pada koefisien gesek hanya 1 spesimen yang memenuhi standar, pada kuat perpatahan nilainya berada diluar standar menyebabkana spesimen cenderung kaku. This research is motivated by the need for environmentally friendly brake pads with good performance. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of variations of coconut shell powder, sengon wood powder and green mussel shell powder on the hardness performance, friction coefficient and fracture strength produced. The test method used is Vickers hardness which results are converted to Rockwell H, static friction coefficient and fracture strength test. The test results show the value of specimen hardness increases if the percentage of sawdust is added, in the range of 72-77 HRH. The results of the static friction coefficient test showed that the percentage of sawdust affected the coefficient of friction performance produced with a range of values of 0.21 - 0.3. The fracture strength test results in a value of 26 - 33.4 N / mm2. The standard friction material according to SAE J661 is having a hardness of 68-105 HRH, a coefficient of friction of 0.3-0.6 and a fracture strength of 4.8-15 N / mm2. This means that the test specimen is already in the good category in the nature of hardness, while in the friction coefficient only 1 specimen meets the standard, the fracture strength is outside the standard causing the specimen tends to be rigid.
