Abstract

***** The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of education, health, infrastructure, and the COVID-19 pandemic on income inequality between regions in six provinces in Java Island during the period 2015–2025. This study uses a quantitative approach by utilizing secondary data in the form of panel data, namely a combination of time series data (2015–2025) and cross-section (six provinces in Java Island). Data were obtained from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) and other official sources, then analyzed using a panel data regression model with a Fixed Effect Model (FEM) estimation approach through EViews software version 12. The results of the analysis show that education and health variables have a negative and significant effect on income inequality, while infrastructure variables have a positive and significant effect. Meanwhile, the COVID-19 pandemic variable used as a dummy shows a positive but insignificant effect. Simultaneously, the four variables have a significant effect on income inequality, indicating that equitable development in the fields of education, health, and infrastructure is very necessary to support inclusive economic growth and reduce the level of income inequality between regions in Java Island.
