Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengembangkan model pembelajaran menulis esai bahasa Inggris dengan pendekatan proses melalui pembelajaran kooperatif. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu metode penelitian dan pengembangan atau Research and Development (R&D) dengan model Dick & Carey. Subjek pada penelitian ini terdiri dari dosen dan mahasiswa pada jurusan Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris. Terdapat beberapa langkah yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu analisis kebutuhan, desain dan pengembangan pruduk, uji kelayakan dan efektifitas produk, dan revisi produk. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan terdiri dari daftar wawancara analisis kebutuhan, angket uji kelayakan dan evaluasi formatif, angket persepsi keterampilan sosial, serta lembar tes menulis untuk uji efektifitas produk. Produk akhir penelitian yang dihasilkan berupa: (1) Desain model pembelajaran, (2) Rencana Pembelajaran Semster (RPS), dan (3) Skenario Pembelajaran. Secara umum model pembelajaran terdiri beberapa kegiatan: pra-pembelajaran, inti-pembelajaran (pra-menulis, saat-menulis, dan pasca-menulis), dan penutup. Berdasarkan uji kelayakan oleh pakar materi bahasa Inggris dan pakar model pembelajaran serta hasil evaluasi formatif, produk dinyatakan layak untuk digunakan pada mata kuliah Essay Writing. Sementara hasil uji efektifitas menunjukan model pembelajaran dapat meningkatkan keterampilan kemampuan menulis esai mahasiswa. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari peningkatan nilai pretest dan posttest dari rata-rata 80.73 menjadi 93.83. Hasil ini didukung oleh hasil uji hipotesis yang menunjukan nilai signifikansi (sig.) 0,001 < 0,05. Nilai tersebut menunjukkan bahwa Ho ditolak dan Ha diterima, sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara nilai mahasiswa sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan model pembelajaran. Hasil penelitian juga menunjukan mahasiswa memberikan persepsi yang positif terhadap penerapan model pembelajaran serta keterampilan sosial yang mereka alami. Kata Kunci: Model Pembelajaran, Pembelajaran Kooperatif, Pendekatan Proses, Menulis Esai ***** The purpose of this study is to develop an instructional model for Essay Writing courses, by utilizing a process-oriented approach through cooperative learning. The research employed the Research and Development (R&D) method based on Dick and Carey’s theory. The subjects of this study included lecturers and students from the English Education Department. The research followed several key steps, such as needs analysis, product design and development, evaluation of feasibility and effectiveness, and revision of the product. The research instruments included questionnaires and interview guides for needs analysis, as well as questionnaires for feasibility testing and formative evaluation. Additionally, there were user perception questionnaires, social skills perception questionnaires, and writing test sheets used to assess the effectiveness of the product. The final products of the research included: (1) an instructional model for Essay Writing course, (2) a semester lesson plan, and (3) a teaching scenario. In general, the learning model consists of several activities: pre-learning, core-learning (pre-writing, during-writing, and post-writing), and closing, all of which are aligned with the principles of cooperative learning. According to evaluations carried out by two experts in English materials and learning models, along with formative assessments, the product has been determined to be effective for implementation in Essay Writing courses. Furthermore, the results of the effectiveness tests indicated that the instructional model significantly enhanced students' essay-writing skills. This improvement is evidenced by the increase in average scores from the pretest, which was 80.73, to the posttest, which rose to 93.83. These findings were further substantiated by the results of the hypothesis tests, which revealed a significance value (sig.) of 0.001 < 0,05. This outcome led to the rejection of the null hypothesis (Ho) and the acceptance of the alternative hypothesis (Ha). Consequently, it can be concluded that there is a statistically significant difference between student scores before and after the implementation of the model. Additionally, the research findings reveal that students view the implementation of the learning model positively, as well as the enhancement of their social skills throughout the learning experience.
