Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji kelayakan model pembelajaran Critical Reading dengan teknik PORPE (Predict, Organize, Rehearse, Practice, Evaluate) berbantuan video bagi mahasiswa dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis dan pemahaman membaca teks akademik. Model ini dikembangkan berdasarkan kebutuhan pembelajaran membaca kritis di perguruan tinggi yang menuntut keterampilan analitis, reflektif, dan evaluatif terhadap teks. Uji kelayakan dilakukan melalui pendekatan penelitian dan pengembangan R&D model Borg and Gall yang mencakup validasi oleh ahli materi, ahli media, dan praktisi pendidikan, serta uji coba terbatas pada mahasiswa dan dosen di Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris di Universitas Indraprasta PGRI. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, angket, dan tes kemampuan Critical Reading. Hasil validasi menunjukkan bahwa model pembelajaran yang dikembangkan memenuhi kriteria kelayakan dari aspek isi, desain pembelajaran, dan kelayakan media. Penilaian oleh para ahli menunjukkan bahwa model ini layak untuk diterapkan. Sementara itu, hasil uji coba terbatas menunjukkan bahwa penerapan teknik PORPE yang dikombinasikan dengan media video mampu meningkatkan motivasi belajar, keterlibatan aktif mahasiswa, dan pencapaian pembelajaran membaca kritis secara signifikan. Implikasi dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pengintegrasian teknik PORPE dengan media audiovisual dapat menjadi alternatif inovatif dalam pengajaran membaca kritis di pendidikan tinggi, sekaligus memberikan kontribusi terhadap pengembangan model pembelajaran berbasis literasi kritis di era digital. Berdasarkan temuan tersebut, model ini dinyatakan layak untuk digunakan dalam pembelajaran membaca kritis di tingkat perguruan tinggi dan berpotensi untuk dikembangkan lebih lanjut dalam konteks yang lebih luas. ***** This study aims to test the feasibility of Critical Reading learning model with PORPE (Predict, Organize, Rehearse, Practice, Evaluate) technique assisted by video for students in improving critical thinking skills and reading comprehension of academic texts. This model was developed based on the needs of critical reading learning in higher education that demands analytical, reflective, and evaluative skills towards text. The feasibility test was conducted through the Borg and Gall model R&D research and development approach which included validation by material experts, media experts, and educational practitioners, as well as limited trials on students and lecturers in the English Education Study Programme at Indraprasta PGRI University. Data were collected through observation, interview, questionnaire, and Critical Reading skill test. The validation results showed that the developed learning model met the eligibility criteria from the aspects of content, learning design, and media feasibility. The assessment by experts shows that this model is feasible to be applied. Meanwhile, the results of the limited trial showed that the application of the PORPE technique combined with video media was able to significantly increase learning motivation, active student involvement, and critical reading learning achievement. The implication of this study shows that integrating the PORPE technique with audiovisual media can be an innovative alternative in teaching critical reading in higher education, as well as contributing to the development of critical literacy-based learning models in the digital era. Based on these findings, this model is declared feasible for use in learning critical reading at the tertiary level and has the potential to be further developed in a broader context.
