Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis konstruksi realitas sosial terhadap kegiatan masa orientasi ilegal di kalangan pelajar Sekolah Menengah Atas (SMA) di Kota Bogor. Kegiatan ini, yang sering kali dilegitimasi sebagai tradisi sekolah, dipandang penting untuk dikaji melalui pendekatan teori konstruksi sosial Peter L. Berger dan Thomas Luckmann yang mencakup tiga tahapan utama: eksternalisasi, objektivasi, dan internalisasi. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara mendalam kepada beberapa informan yang pernah terlibat dalam praktik tersebut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan masa orientasi ilegal terbentuk melalui proses sosial yang kompleks dan diwariskan secara turun-temurun. Pada tahap eksternalisasi, praktik tersebut muncul sebagai ekspresi sosial yang diulang dan direproduksi oleh siswa senior. Dalam tahap objektivasi, kegiatan itu mengalami pelembagaan dan diterima sebagai kenyataan sosial yang dianggap normal dan sah. Sementara pada tahap internalisasi, siswa baru menyerap makna kegiatan tersebut sebagai bagian dari identitas sosialnya dalam komunitas sekolah. Selain itu, hasil penelitian juga mengungkap bahwa lemahnya kontrol dari pihak sekolah serta budaya senioritas yang kuat turut berperan dalam pelestarian kegiatan ini. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan perlunya peran aktif stakeholder pendidikan dalam membangun budaya sekolah yang sehat dan menegakkan nilai-nilai edukatif dalam kegiatan pengenalan lingkungan sekolah. Diperlukan juga transformasi struktural dan kultural untuk menghentikan reproduksi praktik orientasi yang menyimpang di masa mendatang. **** This study aims to analyze the social construction of illegal orientation practices among senior high school students in Bogor City. These practices, often legitimized as school traditions, are examined through the theoretical lens of Peter L. Berger and Thomas Luckmann’s social construction theory, which includes three main stages: externalization, objectivation, and internalization. This research employs a qualitative method with in-depth interviews conducted with several informants who have been involved in such practices. The findings reveal that illegal orientation activities are socially constructed phenomena that have been reproduced across generations. In the externalization stage, these activities emerge as repeated social expressions initiated by senior students. During the objectivation phase, the practices become institutionalized and are accepted as normal and legitimate parts of school culture. In the internalization stage, new students adopt and internalize the meaning of these activities as part of their social identity within the school environment. Moreover, the research highlights that weak institutional control and a deeply rooted culture of seniority significantly contribute to the persistence of these practices.This study recommends active involvement of educational stakeholders in fostering a healthier school culture and reinforcing educational values during student orientation programs. Structural and cultural transformation is also necessary to eliminate the systemic reproduction of deviant orientation practices.
