Abstract
Muhammad Farhan Alfiansyah. Sindoedarsono Sudjojono: Jejak Kerupaan Nasional Di Persatuan Ahli-AHli Gambar Indonesia (1938-1940). Skripsi Sarjana, Jakarta. Program Sudi Pendidikan Sejarah, Fakultas Ilmu Sosial dan Hukum, Universitas Negeri Jakarta, 2025. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan peran Sindoedarsono Sudjojono dalam melawan intelektual lukis barat melalui corak lukis nasional di Persatuan Ahli-Ahli Gambar Indonesia pada tahun 1938 hingga 1942. Demi mencapai tujuan penelitian ini, peneliti menggunakan metode historis melalui langkah-langkah seperti: pemilihan topik, heuristik, verifikasi, interpretasi, dan historiografi (penulisan sejarah). Sumber primer penelitian ini terdiri dari dua bentuk sumber, yiatu lukisan dan tulisan-tulisan Sudjojono. Untuk lukisan Sudjojono, yaitu “Di Depan Kelamboe Terboeka” (1939) dan “Tjap Go Meh” (1940). Serta tulisan-tulisan Sudjojono, yaitu “Menoedjoe Ketjorak Seni Loekis Persatoean Indonesia Baroe (September 1940)”, “Peringatan 50 Tahoen Meninggalnja Vincent Van Gogh (29 Juni 1890)” (Agustus 1940), dan “Seorang Seniman Sendirinja Haroes Seorang Nasionalis” (Desember 1940). Kemudian, sumber sekunder dari penelitian ini terdiri dari buku-buku, autobiografi, dan jurnal artikel. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Sudjojono dalam Persagi (Persatuan Ahli-Ahli Gambar Indonesia) merupakan sebuah gerakan intelektual yang berusaha melawan dominasi pemerintah kolonial yang telah lama menjajah. Sudjojono sendiri memulai titik perlawanannya kepada dominasi kolonial adalah melalui jalur artistik berupa perlawanan melalui lukisan. Perlawanan yang dimaksud adalah perlawanan kepada corak lukis kolonial Belanda yang biasa Sudjojono sebut sebagai Mooi Indie. Melalui organisasi Persagi, Sudjojono menanamkan semangat perlawanannya melalui ajakannya kepada pelukis pribumi untuk bisa membuat corak lukis nasionalis sebagai identitas Indonesia dan sebagai tandingan corak lukis Mooi Indie. Sebab, menurutnya corak lukis Mooi Indie hanya menampilkan eksploitasi yang diwujudkan tanpa rasa yang diselami melalui kedalam rasa seorang pelukis dalam mengekspresikan jiwanya. Demikian itu, Sudjojono hadir untuk menjawab tantangan corak lukis Mooi Indie melalui keyakinannya bahwa, “kebenaran lebih baik dari kebagusan”. This study aims to describe the role of Sindoedarsono Sudjojono in opposing western painting intellectuals through national painting styles at the Indonesian Painting Experts Association from 1938 to 1942. In order to achieve the objectives of this study, the researcher uses a history research method through steps such as: topic selection, heuristics, verification, interpretation, and historiography (historical writing). The primary sources of this study consist of two forms of sources, namely Sudjojono's paintings and writings. For Sudjojono's paintings, namely "Di Depan Kelamboe Terboeka" (1939) and "Tjap Go Meh" (1940). And Sudjojono's writings, namely "Menoedjoe Ketjorak Seni Loekis Persatoean Indonesia Baroe" (May 1940)", "Commemoration of 50 Years of Vincent Van Gogh's Death" (August 1940), and "A Self-Study Artist Must Be a Nationalist" (December 1940). Then, the secondary sources of this study consist of books, autobiographies, and journal articles. The results of the study show that Sudjojono in Persagi (Association of Indonesian Graphic Experts) is an intellectual movement that seeks to fight the domination of the colonial government that has long colonized. Sudjojono himself began his resistance to colonial domination through artistic means of resistance through painting. The resistance in question was resistance to the Dutch colonial painting style that Sudjojono usually called Mooi Indie. Through the Persagi organization, Sudjojono instilled his spirit of resistance through his invitation to native painters to be able to create a nationalist painting style as an Indonesian identity and as a counter to the Mooi Indie painting style. Because, according to him, the Mooi Indie painting style only displays exploitation that is realized without a sense that is explored through the depth of a painter's feeling in expressing his soul. Thus, Sudjojono is here to answer the challenge of the Mooi Indie painting style through his belief that, "truth is better than beauty".
