Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pendekatan reward dan punishment terhadap motivasi belajar IPS pada peserta didik kelas VII di SMP Negeri 74 Jakarta. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen dengan desain Posttest-Only Control Group Design. Pada penelitian ini, kelompok eksperimen berjumlah 35 siswa dan kelompok kontrol berjumlah 35 siswa. Pada kelompok eksperimen diberikan pendekatan reward dan punishment dan pada kelompok kontrol diberikan tindakan pendekatan konvensional. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengukur motivasi belajar berupa kuesioner. Hasil teknik analisis data sebagai berikut: semua data dalam penelitian ini berdistribusi normal akan tetapi tidak homogen. Hasil uji hipotesis yaitu uji Mann-Whitney diperoleh nilai signifikasi sebesar 0,000 < 0,05, maka Ho ditolak dan H1 diterima. Artinya, terdapat perbedaan nilai skor posttest antara kelas yang diberikan perlakuan reward dan punishment dan kelas kontrol dengan tidak diberikan perlakuan reward dan punishment. ***** This study aims to determine the effect of the reward and punishment approach on the motivation to learn Social Studies among seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 74 Jakarta. This study uses an experimental method with a Posttest-Only Control Group Design. In this study, the experimental group consisted of 35 students and the control group consisted of 35 students. The experimental group was given a reward and punishment approach, while the control group was given a conventional approach. The instrument used to measure learning motivation was a questionnaire. The results of the data analysis technique are as follows: all data in this study are normally distributed but not homogeneous. The result of the hypothesis test, namely the Mann-Whitney test, obtained a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, so Ho is rejected and H1 is accepted. This means that there is a difference in posttest scores between the class that received reward and punishment treatment and the control class that did not receive reward and punishment treatment.
