Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan peran MGMP IPS dalam meningkatkan kompetensi profesional guru di Kabupaten Bogor Wilayah Tengah serta mengidentifikasi kendala yang dihadapi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif pendekatan kualitatif dengan pengambilan sampel melalui purposive sampling. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari pengurus dan anggota MGMP IPS. Teknik pengumpulan data meliputi observasi, wawancara semi-terstruktur, dan dokumentasi. Analisis data dilakukan dengan model interaktif Miles dan Huberman, meliputi reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan.. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa MGMP IPS berperan sebagai reformator, mediator, supporting agency, kolaborator, evaluator, dan supervisor dalam pengembangan kompetensi guru. Namun, kendala yang dihadapi meliputi rendahnya partisipasi anggota, kurangnya regenerasi kepengurusan, dan keterbatasan dukungan dari institusi sekolah. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi bagi pengembangan MGMP dan peningkatan kualitas pendidikan di Kabupaten Bogor Wilayah Tengah. ***** This study aims to describe the role of MGMP IPS in improving the professional competence of teachers in Bogor Regency Central Region and identify the obstacles encountered. This research uses descriptive method of qualitative approach with sampling through purposive sampling. The research subjects consisted of administrators and members of MGMP IPS. Data collection techniques included observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted with Miles and Huberman interactive model, including data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that MGMP IPS acts as a reformer, mediator, supporting agency, collaborator, evaluator, and supervisor in developing teacher competence. However, the obstacles faced include low member participation, lack of management regeneration, and limited support from school institutions. This research is expected to contribute to the development of MGMP and improving the quality of education in Bogor Regency Central Region.
