Abstract

***** This study aims to examine the effect of adversity quotient on mental well-being among unemployed fresh graduates, focusing on the transition into the workforce and the difficulties they face in securing employment, which may impact their mental well-being. This research employed a quantitative method with a correlational research design. The sample consisted of 100 unemployed fresh graduates who were actively seeking employment, selected using convenience sampling. The instruments used in this study were the Adversity Response Profile for measuring adversity quotient developed by Stoltz (2000), and the Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Well-Being Scale for assessing mental well-being developed by Stewart-Brown (2007). Data analysis was conducted by performing assumption tests followed by a simple regression analysis. The results of this study indicate that adversity quotient has a significant effect on the mental well-being of unemployed fresh graduates (p < 0.001), with adversity quotient contributing 27% to the variance in mental well-being. A positive correlation was found, meaning that the higher the adversity quotient, the higher the mental well-being of fresh graduates. Therefore, enhancing the adversity quotient is essential, as it is closely related to anxiety about unemployment and other pressures that may negatively affect psychological well-being.
