Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pola asuh otoriter ibu terhadap kontrol diri mahasiswa. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian yang menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan pengujian hipotesis nya yaitu uji regresi linear sederhana. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini diantaranya Parental Authority Questionnaire yang dikembangkan oleh Buri (1991) untuk pengukuran pola asuh otoriter ibu melalui persepsi anak dan Brief Self-Control Scale yang diadaptasi oleh Arifin dan Milla (2020) untuk pengukuran kontrol diri individu. Teknik penentuan sampel yang digunakan yaitu convenience sampling dan metode pengambilan datanya menggunakan kuesioner (survei) yang disebarkan secara online. Penelitian ini melibatkan partisipasi 422 responden berusia 18 hingga 25 tahun yang memiliki pengalaman diasuh oleh ibu. Hasil penelitian ini ditemukan adanya pengaruh pola asuh otoriter oleh ibu secara signifikan sebesar 2.7% terhadap kontrol diri mahasiswa. Arah pengaruh pola asuh otoriter ibu terhadap mahasiswa ini bersifat negatif, yang artinya tingkat pola asuh otoriter yang tinggi dapat mempengaruhi rendahnya kemampuan kontrol diri pada mahasiswa. Kata Kunci : pola asuh otoriter ibu, kontrol diri, mahasiswa ***** This study aims to determine the effect of authoritarian mothers' parenting styles on college students' self-control. This study uses a quantitative approach with hypothesis testing, namely simple linear regression testing. The instruments used in this study included the Parental Authority Questionnaire developed by Buri (1991) to measure authoritarian parenting styles through children's perspectives and the Brief Self-Control Scale adapted by Arifin and Milla (2020) to measure individual self-control. The sampling technique used was convenience sampling, and the data collection method involved an online questionnaire (survey). This study involved the participation of 422 respondents aged 18 to 25 years who had experience being raised by their mothers. The results of this study found a significant influence of authoritarian parenting by mothers on students' self-control, amounting to 2.7%. The direction of the effect of authoritarian parenting by mothers on students is negative, meaning that high levels of authoritarian parenting can lead to low self-control in college students.
