Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar dan keaktifan peserta didik dalam mata pelajaran Ilmu Pengetahuan Sosial (IPS) melalui penerapan media video dokumenter. Penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) ini dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus, masing-masing mencakup tahap perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi terhadap 36 peserta didik kelas VII-F SMP Negeri 92 Jakarta. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, dokumentasi, dan tes hasil belajar. Pada Siklus I, ketuntasan belajar klasikal mencapai 72.22 (26 peserta didik) dengan rata-rata nilai 80.25, dan meningkat pada Siklus II menjadi 91.67 (33 peserta didik) dengan rata-rata nilai 87.78. Keaktifan belajar yang meliputi bertanya, menjawab, berpendapat, dan kerja sama kelompok juga meningkat, dari 25–50 kategori “sangat aktif” pada Siklus I menjadi 72–78 pada Siklus II. Diskusi kelompok dilakukan hanya sebagai bagian kecil dari alur pembelajaran untuk memperkuat pemahaman peserta didik setelah pemutaran video dokumenter, sehingga fokus penelitian tetap pada efektivitas media video dokumenter. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media video dokumenter efektif dalam meningkatkan pemahaman materi, partisipasi aktif, dan sikap kritis peserta didik, serta mampu menciptakan suasana belajar yang lebih aktif dan menyenangkan. Kata kunci: video dokumenter, hasil belajar, keaktifan peserta didik, IPS, tindakan kelas. ***** This study aims to improve student learning outcomes and engagement in Social Studies (IPS) through the use of documentary video media. This classroom action research (CAR) was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of the planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages, involving 36 seventh-grade students of class VII-F at SMP Negeri 92 Jakarta. Data were collected through observation, documentation, and learning achievement tests. In Cycle I, the classical learning mastery reached 72.22 (26 students) with an average score of 80.25, and increased in Cycle II to 91.67 (33 students) with an average score of 87.78. Student engagement, including asking questions, answering, expressing opinions, and group collaboration, also improved, from 25–50 categorized as “very active” in Cycle I to 72–78 in Cycle II. Group discussions were conducted only as a minor part of the learning process to strengthen students’ understanding after watching the documentary video, so the focus of the research remained on the effectiveness of the documentary video media. The results show that documentary video media is effective in improving students’ comprehension, active participation, and critical thinking, as well as creating a more active and enjoyable learning environment.
